• Chapter One: The Orphanage

My name is Raven. I was abandoned when I was ten years old and I never knew my parents because they both were killed when I was a six in a car crash. I was put in the care of my beloved grandmother who was unfortunately killed while she was out shopping at the super market. She never saw it coming. The guy behind her just shot her without warning; turns out he was wanted for killing three other people just because they were women. He claimed in court that his excuse was that as a young child he was abused by his mother. He was place in an insane asylum. I’m alone again. But not for long, I’m planning on escaping tonight. Ill finally be free. Then I won’t have to be locked up in this wretched place. I’ll get to feel the wind in my hair, the grass between my toes and the warm sun on my face. Tonight, I wouldn’t be in this wretched hell house. *

Nick, I boy I had met after I had be brought into the orphanage had just snuck out of the house mothers office and came out with a laundry schedule, my plan was to jump in the hamper and make myself look like a pile of dirty laundry then when the cart was outside and there was no one around I would make my break.

“The laundry goes out at ten o’ clock, that’s when we can make our escape.” said Nick as if he were planning this since the day I showed him my plan (technically he did help a little). He had only been at the orphanage for 5 months and had already wanted to leave. He still had a chance to have a good life, and I wasn’t going let him leave.
“No. That’s when I’ll make my escape. You’re not going with me. You still have a chance at a family and I’m not going to let you just throw your life away. I’m sorry, but that’s my final word.” I told him strictly.
“Why not?! I want to go with you! I don’t need a family…you are my family. I’m not going to let you just walk out on me like that! Raven you’re like the sister I never had…I don’t want to lose you…” I remembered Nick telling me about how his father had walked out on his mother when she found out she was pregnant and that she had later died in child birth and his father had been arrested for rape.
“I know Nick, but this is something I have to do on my own…I’m sorry nick. I really am. But I can’t let you throw your life away for me. You have a life here…I don’t. Good-bye Nick. I hope that we meet again.”
“RAVEN!” Nick screamed. But it was too late. I had already jumped in the hamper and was on my way out. They pushed the cart out with me in it. My plan was a success.
