• ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Prologue~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“S-sir!” Came the soldiers cry from outside as the king watched from his balcony. He watched as his soldiers stood their ground despite the Dark raiding army’s crossbow bolts and arrows that rained heavy on their heads.

He was beginning to think this was a bad idea. They should have done something else to accomplish what they needed done. However it was then that he felt his Queen’s presence. She walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder and he forgot his worries. This always seemed to happen with her around. Little did he know he was being used.

“Don’t worry my king” the Queen’s voice rang into his ear, “it will be over with soon.”

“There is no way for the Prince to escape his fate now.” she said quietly as she looked out the window with a wicked grin that the old king seemed not to see. “He can’t escape this time, not like all those other failed attempts.

“I’m truly sorry it had to be this way,” she lied without a single hesitation, “but the Prince threatens our kingdoms and our plans.”

“Yes my Queen.” The King said simply as he looked out the window. He was beginning to feel very old. And now he would lose his son, or so he thought, even hoped for. “Stand your ground men!” he yelled out the window. “They are charging now! Lower your pikes!”

The Soldiers looked around, confused, and then they spotted the hordes of oncoming enemy warriors. They lowered their pikes, ready to impale their oncoming enemies. However the enemy had other plans.

The Battle was a bloody massacre. The guards of the castle had no chance against the superior numbers and strength of the Shadow warriors. The castle was being taken, or so it seemed.

One of the shadow warriors made it to the throne room and soon kneeled before the Fire King. “We are on our way to getting the Prince my liege” the soldier said.

The King nodded but then was startled as the Soldier fell over with a crossbow bolt sticking out of his eye. The Queen threw away the crossbow she was holding with disgust and looked at the soldier. “It will ruin our ruse if it looks like we were talking to them.” she said. She kicked the body down the stairs to the throne room and watching as it made the bone cracking descent. “Foolish soldier! You should learn to obey orders.”
