‘The week before I had to leave has passed, and now I’m on my way to L.A.’ Nikki Seibert thought as she put her carry on up, as she sat down she looked out the window of the plane. The clouds were fluffy and the sky a rich blue. ‘Boarding school, oh, boy this is going to be interesting..’ She thought as she got ready to sleep the rest of the way, after she got on and off of the air planes from Dallas to L.A. She thought about her father, who had to taken a flight earlier that day. Picking her bags out she looked around, it was just a plain airport. Nothing was special, the marble floors shinned as people of all ages walked from one end to the other. Getting in a cab she called her father. “I’m here dad, I’ll be at the studio.” She watched the cars, people and building pass by as she sat in the backseat of the taxi, was she happy? Was she just dying to be in L.A? No. She missed her house in Dallas. Her friends, her pets, her school. When she got to the studio her dad hugged her and she watched 707 practice for an hour before telling her father she was going to go to the park. He agreed. After she was out of the studio she started walking to the park which was four blocks from the studio. Looking in her bag while walking, she thought about drawing ‘I wonder if I brought my pencil, maybe I could draw-…’ She walked into something or someone. She fell forward on top of a guy no more than seventeen, he had blue eyes, dark brown hair, a bit wide around the waist but couldn’t be called fat by it, he looked to work out everyday. She quickly got up and kneeled down to pick her notebook up try to get every drawing back into it.
The boy picked up a drawing of a couple sitting next to each other in a garden with flowers falling he said, “Nice” As he got up.
Looking up at him she said, “I’m sorry I walked into you, I wasn’t paying attention”
He smiled handing it to her, “It’s okay. It happens most of all the time. So you draw?”
She could feel her cheeks growing red, “Yes. Bu-..”
She noticed he had a slight blush, “You’re really good at it. I’m Erik.”
Nikki blushed and smiled, “I’m Nikki and thank you.”
She turned to walk away but Erik asked “Do you go to the Stan Hall Boarding school?”
Nikki stopped and turned around “How did you know that?” She looked at him curiously.
He looked at her still grinning “I’m starting there and I overhead one of the teachers talking about a girl called Nikki who was going to start. And…. You’re the only Nikki I’ve found. Seibert right?”
She looked at him confused, slightly frowning “I guess I’ll see you there.” A car pulled up and parked on by the side walk, he turned to look.
She walked off seeing he wasn’t paying attention, he turned to say something but she started running down the side walk. He looked down seeing a heart charm he picked it up thinking it was hers. ‘Nikki, huh?’ He walked across the street keeping her in mind. Nikki sat down at a bench in the park and listened to music on her iPod and started drawing Erik’s face. Not much after her father called her. He picked her up in a rental car, they looked at houses till 5:02 P.m. and then they went out to eat and registered into a hotel. The next morning was quite slow for Nikki who spent it in the hotel room alone drawing and waiting for her father to take her to her new school, she had packed everything she had brought and wanted to start school as soon as possible. Around 12:00p.m her father came back and drove to the boarding school. Nikki got out and hugged her father and looked into his eyes for a moment before taking her bags. ‘How nice, exceptional teenagers, very few girls and boys here.’ She slung her black bag over her shoulder and carried her gray bag. The headmistress came out and gave her a tour of the school and showed her, her room, she shared it with a girl called Clair who was 15. ‘One year younger than me’ she thought as she set her bags down and brought out a picture of her family and friends, the headmistress asked, “What a darling little brother you have. Tell me how old is he?” She looked down at the ground, flashing back to the day he was killed, the day he had cried out for her. The day she found what betrayal meant. “Well?” Nikki shivered and looked up, “He’s… ma’am …umm… he’s no longer with me and my father…” The mistress didn't show any sympathy and left the room leaving the key on one of the black tables. Nikki looked around, the dorm room was quite big, two beds with red blankets on them, two wooden night side draws in the middle of the two beds with red lamps on each one, two couches, two wardrobes, two big windows with window seats with black cretins, a bathroom of a five star hotel look with marble counter and a shower with a glass door. She walked into the bathroom, she stood in front of the mirror, watching her reflection. She pulled her brown hair back from her face the high light have darken but still looked as she wanted them to. Nikki remembered her father always telling her to get her hair out of her face. The reflection had a shadow behind, it slowly a figure of a wolf appeared it was bleeding from its neck as if it had been in a battle and barely won. She turned to find that it wasn’t just a shadow, it was there. Startled she jumped back it reached and touched her wrist leaving a mark. She looked into it’s yellow eyes till it faded, blinking she thought ‘I did see that right? It wasn’t my imagination… it couldn’t have been… could it??’ She stared at her wrist seeing it left what looked like a tattoo of a paw print. She stared at it and looked at the mirror, nothing changed there was a shadow behind her, a wolves shadow. She turned to see nothing, her heart skipped a beat for the second time, she stared into her reflection’s eyes, they turned yellow
