• I could feel warm fingers running along my jaw and down my neck. And my skin tingled when they traveled down between my breasts continuing along my stomach.

I thought it was a dream till I opened my eyes and found Leon sitting on the bed leaning over me. “You pervert!” I shouted hitting him with my pillow.

He laughed pulling me to him, “You didn’t seem to mind.” He ran his tongue over my lips.

I smiled wickedly, “You’re right. I did like it. And you know what else I like?” I moved to kneel on the bed wrapping my arms around his neck.

    “What’s that?”

I kneed him in the stomach, “Some friggin’ privacy.” When he fell to the floor holding his chest I got up walking to the bathroom.

Don’t worry, in a couple minutes he’ll be just as new.

In the bathroom I saw that someone, Leon probably, had changed me out of my pj’s and into a tank top and panties. I lifted my shirt and saw the cut had healed nicely.

Quickly I took a shower, put on make-up then realized I didn’t have anything to change into. I peeked my head out to see if he was still there but it was clear. So, I tied the towel around me and ran out grabbing a skirt and shirt.

There was a knock at the door and I ran back in the bathroom shouting, “Who is it?”

“It’s Leon with breakfast,” he said. Ooh food.

“Alright, come in.” I gasped when I remembered I forgot to grab under wear and a bra. Whatever, I don’t need them right now. I put on my clothes and stepped out to find Leon sitting on the bed nibbling at toast.

Leon eyed me up and down, a smile creeping up his face, “No under garments?”

How could he tell?! I smirked sitting down and biting into my own piece of toast, “So, last night when I was talking to your sister on the phone I told her you were past out and she thought we had.. ya know.” I motioned with my hands, “Why’s that?”

Leon laughed, “You’ll find out soon enough.”

What the hell did that mean? “Well if you’re not going to tell would you at least tell me about vampires? ‘Cause apparently everything I know is wrong.”

He laid back on the bed, putting his arm under his head, “Where to start... Ok well we’re not really evil or souls damned to Hell. We just have nanos in our blood that keep us at the peek of our health. But the nanos use up our blood to do that so that’s why we have to drink blood.”

“So, the blood drinking is why you have fangs?”

He nodded, “And why we have super strength, heal fast and have great eye sight.”

I looked at him confused, “How did the nanos get in your blood?”

When he finished his toast he said, “We once lived in Atlantis-”

“What?!” I asked shocked then added, “Isn’t that just a myth?”

Leon arched an eyebrow, “Are you going to let me explain?” I apologized and he continued. “Atlantis was a highly advanced society. But when a disease broke out they had every scientist working for a cure. That’s when they made the nanos. My parents were one of the first subjects that were injected. The test was successful but then they found out that we needed blood to survive. So, they had blood donors and transfusions but then Atlantis fell and we had to get blood on our own. That’s when the fangs and other skills were made.”

I thought about this for a long time as I ate my eggs, “If you’re not exactly ‘magical’ how would you know about deamons and my father and stuff?”

“Actually, the scientists used magic to create the nanos.”

Well, that all made sense. “Now,” I said getting serious and I crossed my legs, “what about this whole lifemate thing?”

Leon sighed sitting up. Then he grabbed me by the waist, easily picking me up and setting me in his lap. “I’ve already told you some of the ways we know that a person is our lifemate. Which is not being able to read their mind and an appetite for food. Other ones are having a large attraction, not being able to control them and sharing fantasies.”

I looked away, “What exactly is a lifemate?”

“With vampires we can read anyone so when we find that one person who we can’t read or control it’s something really special. It takes hundred of years for us to find our lifemates and if they die we’re lucky if we find a second.”

“I thought the nanos kept you at the peek of your health why would you die?”

Leon smiled down at me, “We’re not invincible. If our head gets cut off or we get set on fire we will die.” He was silent for a moment. “Now, maybe you can see why I’m so protective of you..?”

    “But I’m not your lifemate-”

“Then why can’t I read you?” he asked with an arched eyebrow. I sat there silent. What if I am his lifemate, then what? I’m a princess in line for the thrown. And where he will probably live forever unless beheaded or set on fire I’ll only live a couple hundred more years. And I’ll get old! While he’ll stay young and sexy forever.

Well, at this rate I might die young.

I walked over and sat in the chair grabbing my stuffed toy, “I need time to think.” He looked at me for a moment then nodded and left.

What am I going to do?
