• I walked into the living room dully and flicked on the TV. Wow. Just wow. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong today. My boyfriend broke up with me. My only friend had just randomly dumped me without even giving a reason. I scored zero on our science test and now I had detention for a whole month. I tripped in the cafeteria and got macaroni and cheese all over me. My drawings for my manga looked horrible and the editor had yelled at me. My usually sparkling eyes were now faded. I felt lower than a worms stomach. Then my mom came in and shut off the TV.
"Get off your a** and make dinner" she snapped.
"You make it for once" I growled "I've had a worse day than you've ever had in your pampered life."
"How dare you" she shouted "I'm your mother! You wouldn't be here without me."
"I didn't ask you to give birth to me!" I screamed, jumping to my feet "I'd rather you didn't! You stupid old hag! Smack! my mom slapped me fully on the face. I didn't give her a chance to say anything more. I ran out the door as fast as I could into the rainy night. Thunder rumbled and lightning crashed over my head but it felt like a movie, like it wasn't actually there. My white blond hair was plastered to my face. I was sobbing uncontrollably. It would have been so much better if she just didn't exist, then I wouldn't exist. No one cared either way. Nobody would mind if I just disappeared for a year or so. No one would notice a difference. They would just vaguely notice Oh hey, Nyx hasn't been here for a while, I wonder where she is. Everyone would just go on as usual. Nobody wanted me to exist. I found a small abandoned cabin. I went inside and sat down on a rotting chair. I curled up in a ball and just cried. No one would be able to find me. No one would be able to hear me over the rain. It was like I didn't exist. Once I stopped crying, I felt a white-hot burning sensation in my chest. I knew I wasn't being physically hurt but I let out a cry of pain. If it had been physical than I would've been dead ages ago. I wished it was physical so I was dead. Looking around, I found a piece of rope and a hook in the ceiling. Perfect. I could hang myself. I did a slip knot and tied the other end of the rope to the hook. I stood on a chair and slipped my head through the rope. Then I kicked away the chair and waited to die. Suddenly, the doors banged open and someone came in. My eyes flew open. I saw a boy, about my age, with black hair and green eyes, dressed completely in black. He cut through the rope with a knife and carried me out of the house. It took me a few seconds to realize what was happening.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I shouted over the rain.
"Saving you" he said "a 'thank you' would be appreciated."
"Um I was kinda trying to kill myself" I pointed out "I wanted to die."
"I know" he said "but it's not your time yet."
"Ok look, put me down" I said, realizing that I was still slung over his shoulder.
    "No" he said.
"Look, I promise I won't go back and try and kill myself again" I said impatiently.
"Ok" he let me down "but I'm holding onto your hand just in case" he grabbed my hand. I felt slightly taken aback. My boyfriend and I hadn't even held hands and he was doing it without even knowing who I was "I'm Azrael. What's your name?"
    "Nyx" I replied.
"And why were you trying to kill yourself Nyx?" he asked.
"I rather not talk about it" I mumbled.
"Kay" said Azrael "then what do you want to talk about?"
"Tell me about yourself" I blurted out.
"Azrael Witt, age 17, Aquarius, favorite sport: soccer, likes: art, music, sports, meat, animals, nature. Dislikes: loudness, brightness and cleaning" he said very fast "what about you?"
"Um, Nyx Dillard, age 17, favorite sport: basketball, likes: quiet, animals, especially cats, food, sports, painting, reading, nature, peacefulness. Dislikes: sudden, loud noises, cleaning and dogs."
"You don't like dogs" Azrael stared.
"It's more of a phobia than a dislike" I said "they kinda scare me."
"We'll have to work on fixing that phobia then" muttered Azrael "by the way, where's your house" I looked up, noticing my surroundings for the first time in a while.
"Over there" I said as I spotted it, pointing.
"Ok, well then I guess I'll just say goodbye to you here then" he said, letting go of my hand. I almost felt sad as he did so. "See you!"
"Yeah, maybe" I waved "bye!" I watched his retreating figure for a moment, then turned around and walked towards my house.
