• Violet nearly tripped over the box as she pushed it into the room. She straightened her back and look at her surroundings with awe. Books. Hundreds of them. The room was circular and a huge window with thick black curtains were tightly shut. It was dark, but Violet could see clearly that there was no dust on the shelves that were inlayed in the wall. Near the window was a large mahogany desk that was cluttered with parchment and quill pens. Parchment and quill pens? Violet thought. Did she just wake up in the 16th century? She walked over to the shelves and ran her fingers over the spines of the books. Violet smiled softly and gently whispered to the book the songs of forgotten tales. She began to pull a book out, slowly, with deliberation, like one would when opening curtains.
    Speaking of curtains...
The curtains had begun to drift outward, towards the window. Violet turned around and saw a giant orb of rippling light. It grew bigger and bigger, until Violet was engulfed in the light. She shielded her eyes but light slipped through her eyelids. And then it was gone. Violet blinked her eyes in disbelief. And then it came. A huge earth quaking boom that tossed Violet through the air and crashing against the shelf wall. Stunned and dazed, Violet lifted her head up to see a boy no older then her walk towards her. He seemed unfazed with the explosion. Everything seemed untouched. The boy offered her a hand and just as she was about to sink her teeth into it, she completely blacked-out.
