    20 years later
Julius was determined to become one, everyday since he could remember he was training for the chance to become a hoplite the bravest of warriors, the gods of the battlefield. The day had come when Julius could try out, he would have to fight for the chance. The fight would be an all battle, often to the death. Julius join in knowing that this was his one chance.

The night before the match everyone trying to become a hoplite slept in the barracks. Sleep would not come to Julius, he sits there lost deep in memories of his childhood. One stands out the most, when he was merely 5 years old and his father asks him. "Do you wish to live a normal life and die one day or do you wish to live a glorious life but die in a a marvelous and glorious death. Julius chose the glorious life as many others would do".

As sleep came to Julius a dream came to him. It was Ares the god of war and Athena the goddess of wisdom. Ares offered Julius a sword of the finest crafting and Athena offered just a simple club with a olive branch wrapped around it. Julius chose the sword as it seemed to be the best of the two, as he reached for it he awoke to the sound of a gong signaling the battle is about to begin

    The Battle
The rules of the battle was simple you may use but a single weapon, and the combatants must be naked. Julius with the sword from the dream in hand looked at the people with whom he must fight. He saw people with various weapons very similar to the one which he was wielding.

When the captain of the hoplites signaled for the battle to begin Julius charges forward, he hits the person next to him with the hilt of his sword. He spins around and kicks the man behind him cracking a few ribs. The battle rages on for nearly a hour before it is down to two people.

As Julius stares at his opponent he comes to a realization the weapon that his enemy wields is a simple club with a olive branch wrapped around it. Unknown to Julius the night before everyone in the barrack had the same dream. Everyone chose Ares except one who went to Athena. As Julius charges a blinding light covers the field.

When the light clears a woman of true beauty stands next to his opponent, as the woman walks away into thin air Julius sees his opponent no longer holds a club but a weapon made by the gods themselves and he is a wearing an armor that even the most gifted of mortal blacksmiths could not forge.

As Julius charges he takes a swift blow to the ribs and collapses to the ground his enemy is about to kill him but the woman returns and asks him to spare Julius, the man spares Julius and thanks the woman for bestowing him with the gifts.
