• Chapter #2:
THINK, WHERE WOULD I BE IF
    I WAS A BLOODSUCKING
    LEACH….

In the morning I woke up super early……yet not earlier than Nathan. I could never beat him! I walked down stairs and went into my living room. I found Lee spread out on the floor sleeping and Daniel lay across the couch snoring away. I went over to the couch and jumped on him, “Get up sleepy head!” I said. He jumped up, knocking me off of him and smacked me on the head.
“You know I love you, but seriously sometimes I want to kill you,” he said as he kicked his blanket off of him and got up. We walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. Nathan was cooking again. He sat our plates in front of us then took his seat.
“So what are you two planning on doing today?” Nathan asked.
“Definitely not going to the movies,” Daniel said as he shoved a whole piece of toast in his mouth. The way they ate amazed me.
“Well, at least I know where I’ll be safe from you two,” Nathan said as he got up and put his plate in the dishwasher. After we ate I went up stairs to get dressed and Daniel borrowed some of Chris’s clothes. We headed down stairs. My dad was sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV with Chris.
“Where are you two going this early in the morning?” he asked turning his attention away from the TV set.
“I don’t know, maybe out to the park,” Daniel said, “Don’t worry Uncle Randy; we’ll keep out of trouble for the day.” We walked out the door and hopped in my car. We did decide to go to the park. It was not opened yet, which was a good thing. There would be nobody there, so no one would get freaked out by two massive sized wolves running around. We got to the main entrance and jumped over the gate.
    “I’ll race you!” I said.
“Yeah, but you won’t beat me!” he said.
We both got lined up next to each other. I crouched down, almost all the way to the floor, and sprang back up. My body trembling as I morphed. It feels sort of like when your foot falls asleep, the tingling and numbness, but throughout your whole body.
Daniel did the same thing. We crouched into position and on the silent count of three we were off. I loved running in wolf form! It was so awesome! All you can see is the blur of trees and other plants as you zoom past them. Humans wouldn’t be able to see us we were going so fast. Daniel never raced fair; he took a short cut through the trees. I didn’t race fair either; I took the human tail, which took way less time then going through the trees.
I ended up beating him by three whole seconds! That just proves that girls are better than boys……well, sometimes anyway. When we finally stopped we morphed back into our human form. Daniel is a sore loser. He was moping around the park all day. I guess he can’t handle being beat by a girl!
We were walking around the park when we heard a rustling in the bushes. Daniel jumped in front of me and stared into the forest. People weren’t allowed in the park yet so we knew it wasn’t a little kid running around or something. Daniel lowered into an intimidating crouch and said, “Who the heck is out there?”
There was another rustle and then a person popped out of behind the bushes. He was pale as freshly fallen snow, he was very tall, and his face was flawless. The most noticeable thing about him though was that his eyes were piercing red like a ripe tomato straight off the plant.
“Why hello there. What are you two doing out here? No people are aloud in here for a couple hours,” he said in a cool, calm, voice. He stepped closer to us and Daniel got up on his legs again and growled at him.
“Don’t come any closer!” Daniel snared, showing his teeth.
“Oh! Look at this! A guard puppy! How cute! Can I pet him?” he asked as he laughed and bended down to pat his legs, “Come here puppy!”
This really ticked me off. I stepped closer to him and looked him in his bloody-looking eyes. “Back off, or we will be forced to tear you to shreds!” I snapped.
“Oh, cut it out Barbie! What are you going to do? Pee on my leg and hope I go running home for a change of clothes? You guys don’t scare me, and if anyone is going to rip anyone to shreds it’s going to be me!” he said. He came a little closer; it was like he was testing our patience. He was just waiting for one of us to snap.
“You should really consider leaving us alone. One bloodsucker is no match for two werewolves,” Daniel said.
“I didn’t want to fight you to mongrels anyway. I was just looking for a bite to eat, it was only luck that I found you two to torture,” he said as he quickly zoomed to my side. I jumped backwards almost falling. I hate the way they think they are the fastest things on the planet! It really gets under my skin! Daniel ran to my side. He stood eye to eye with the vampire.
“Leave!” he snarled. The vampire backed away and just stood there.
“Okay! I am going to leave you to in one piece today, but I promise you my brothers and I will find you later. There will be no stopping us then,” he said as he disappeared. Good thing he did leave, as soon as he said that last thing he threw himself in to the air and landed on the spot where he was.
“I hate vampires with a passion!” he said as he got off of the ground and dusted himself off.
“Let’s go tell the others,” I said. We ran through the park and jumped over the entrance. We got into my car and took off. I was in a sixty-mile-per-hour zone doing over ninety-miles-per-hour. I didn’t care though. There were no cops around and barely anyone out driving.
When we got home we found Chris, Nathan, and Lee sitting on the couch, eating chips and hotdogs, watching an Ohio State vs. Michigan State football game. They were all wearing Ohio State jerseys and screaming at the TV.
“That was not a fumble!” Lee screamed as he through an empty pop bottle at the TV.
“People! Shut up!” Daniel screamed above the noise as he grabbed the controller from the couch and turned the television off.
“What the heck did you do that for? I wanted to see Ohio kick Michigan’s butt! This better be good!” Chris said.
“It is very important! Just shut up so we can talk!” I screamed. What was it with boys and football?
“We were in the park this morning and we saw one of our buddies,” Daniel explained.
When he was done explaining our story Nathan asked, “So the little bloodsucker said that he was going to find us?”
“Yes, that is what he said. He also said that there were more of them,” I said. They all looked scared. We didn’t know how to deal with these things! They are unpredictable.
“So what are we going to do?” Chris asked.
“Well, I really don’t know,” I said looking at Nathan and Lee. They were usually the ones that made up the plans for everything.
“Well, how about this?” Nathan began, “We find them. They will not be expecting us to search for them. They probably think that we will wait for them to show up. You know? They probably think that we are going to be busy planning attacks so they will be able to sneak in an attack on us first. We could tell Dad and I bet he will help us think of a quick attack plan to use, then we will head out.”
“What are you guys doing?” Dad asked as he walked into the living room. We told him our story and plan. He seemed to like it. “I will help. Was it light outside when you saw him?”
“No, the sun was just about to rise and he was in the woods before he saw us,” I said.
“Ah, so he can’t come into the sun. That is good,” he said.
“Why is that good?” Chris asked.
“You see, the old legends talk about blood-thirsty monsters. They say that they are pale, flawless, very quick, and strong. They also say that they can not come into the sun light or they will burn,” he answered. Chris got a big grin on his face.
“So, we can get them into the sun and watch them burn like a slug when you pour salt on it?” He asked. You could tell that he was really excited. If there was one thing that could make him happy, it was watching his enemies die.
“Sort of,” Dad said, “Now back to the plan. Since they can not be out in the sun light they are going to be hiding somewhere dark. Probably in the woods somewhere, since that would provide them with food and shelter from the sun. We should search the woods together. No one should go out by themselves. Once we find where they are hiding we will attack.
“They are very hard to kill. You can lure them out into the sun somehow or you could burn them. Burning them won’t be easy. First, you have to shred them apart, and then you can throw them into a fire. You have to be careful though. They are strong. They can easily knock one of you guys down with one punch. I’d prefer that you guys pair up and fight. That way you will always have someone watching your back.”
“When are we going to start?” Lee asked.
“Today, get ready to hunt!” Dad said. He walked outside to get some stuff to take with us. While he was gone we made pairs. Of course Daniel and I were together, Lee and Nathan were together, and Chris and Dad were together.
Dad got a backpack and a couple of water bottles then we were on our way. I was very excited! I wanted to kill that guy that called me Barbie! That was so uncalled for! As we walked through the woods we were searching for any signs that a vampire was near.
After about an hour of walking through the woods we saw something. There was a dead bear carcass under a tree.
“Wow, they are rude! They don’t even clean up after themselves!” Chris said.
“They are close,” Dad said. We hiked on about three more miles and then Dad stopped dead in his tracks.
    “What is it?” Lee asked.
“Shhhhhh…….,” he said, “They are here.”
There was a rustle in the trees above us. Before we knew it there were four vampires standing in front of us.
“Well, what do you know? It’s Barbie and her doggy!” one of the bloodsuckers said. It was the same one that was in the park. Daniel stepped towards him and growled.
    “Stop, Daniel,” Dad ordered.
“Oh, so your names Daniel?” He asked as he took a step closer, “They should really get you a caller with your name inscribed in it.”
“I’m so going to murder you!” Daniel said as he backed away.
    “Who are you?” Nathan asked.
“My name is Brendan,” he said, “And these are my brothers.”
The other vampires were standing behind him. There were no girls. Typical, there were never any girls! Brendan must have seen me looking at the others because he introduced them to. There was Jaden, Paul, and Freddy. Jaden was really tall and had blonde hair that spiked up on the top of his head. He was in the very back of them all. He looked really scared and nervous. Paul had very long wavy black hair and Freddy had short brown hair. They on the other hand looked ready to fight.
“So, what are you doing here?” Brendan asked.
“We were looking for you,” Lee said.
“Wow, why would you want to find us? Are we special?” He asked. His smart mouth was getting on my nerves! I wanted to punch him in his mouth, but if there was one thing I knew about vampires was that they were as hard as rock! It felt like hitting concrete!
“No, not really. I wanted to find you so I could rip your non-beating heart out, but if you count that as being special you seriously have some problems,” I said. If he wanted to be a smarty I could be one too!
“Oh, I didn’t know you felt that way about us,” Brendan said, “So, who’s gonna take the first punch?”
We all looked around at each other. Daniel was twitching with anger. I knew if anyone was going to try and kill Brendan it was going to be him.
“So no one is going to step up?” Brendan asked, “I guess I’ll have to!” He launched himself towards Daniel. Daniel jumped out of the way and sprang into the air. He morphed into wolf form and ran towards the bloodsucker. He hit Brendan straight in the chest. I heard Daniel whimper a little bit, that had to have hurt!
Paul came after us next. He jumped onto Nathan. By this time we had all morphed. Nathan pushed him off with his feet than sprang back up. Lee joined in. Nathan and Lee started to circle him. Nathan took a swing at Paul’s right shoulder. A big chunk of vampire was thrown towards me. That was nasty!
Daniel was still fighting Brendan. I started to help, but my dad pushed me away and took over. It was so unfair that I couldn’t help rip that leach apart! That would have been the highlight of my whole day, but no I had to watch him get tore apart by someone else! Chris was fighting Freddy. He had come out right after Paul. They were circling each other. Chris snarled at him then rammed him against a tree. Freddy kicked Chris back and hopped to his feet. These vampires would be hard to beat.
As I was watching Chris and Freddy I heard a loud scream. I quickly turned my head around. It was Dad he was on the ground bleeding. Brendan was leaning over him with a huge grin on his face. That was it! I quickly launched myself into the air and landed next to Brendan. I stood up on my hind legs and grabbed him by the throat. “I’m sick of you!” I screamed as I threw him against a tree. I heard a big crack. I hoped it was his spine, but no it was the freaking tree! He got himself out of my hold and ran to his friends. The big tree in front of me was cracking. Daniel and Chris ran over to it and tried to keep it up straight. My dad was lying right in its way. I really didn’t want him to get hurt even more. I quickly ran over to my dad and grabbed him. I put him under another tree and headed back over to the falling one.
I motioned for Daniel and Chris to let it go. It hit the ground with a big thump. That was close! It would have sucked if my dad got hit with a tree right after he got attacked by a vampire!
“It seems like we have won this battle,” Brendan said as he laughed, “And all of us didn’t even have to fight!” He motioned for his brothers and disappeared into the woods. I so wanted to kill that boy! I ran over to my dad, his wound had stopped bleeding but he looked bad. Good thing werewolves healed fast. Nathan picked him up and carried him as we walked. We were out of wolf form so I knew Dad must have been killing Nathan’s back.
When we got home Nathan sat Dad on the couch. Chris got him a fresh change of clothes and some food. Lee turned on the TV and sat down in the recliner.
“Looks like Ohio lost,” he said as he flipped to the sports channel.
“Yeah, we did too,” Nathan said as he grabbed a seat on the floor next to Dad.
“We need more training! Then we can go back and rip their heads off!” Daniel said as he paced around the living room.
“Whatever it takes we will find Brendan and he will pay. I don’t care how we do it I just want him dead…and I want him dead now!” I snared I didn't care what it took I just wanted him dead, well, he was already dead, but you know what I mean. We were going to hunt him down!
