• PART 9

Celia’s eyes fluttered open. It was still dark. Had all that been a dream? It seemed real… Celia rolled over to try and go back to sleep and just as she had closed her eyes, two questions popped into her mind and her eyes snapped back open. One – why didn’t anything hurt? Maybe it was a dream… and two – what had woken her up? She scanned the dark room and something caught her eye. A figure was standing in the corner. Great… Celia thought, x has come to finish me off. She reached over and turned her bedside lap on and what she saw startled her.
“Rayos!” she gasped, quickly sitting up “what are you doing here?” Rayos looked over at her but his expression wasn’t happy, it was angered, his wings were morphed into his body.
“What did x do to you?” he asked, walking over to her and crouching just before her bed, his eyes hard. Celia really didn’t want to be made a fuss of, but if it helped in x not killing her…
“He took me back to the caverns and tried kill me. Turns out he did kill my father.” she almost grimaced at the thought.
“He tried to kill you?” Rayos suddenly roared, startling Celia again.
“Tried.” Celia emphasized, she didn’t want Rayos to go down there and get hurt. Rayos sighed and put his head in his hands. Celia looked at the pyjamas and started absent-mindedly pulling a piece of loose thread from it.
“i…attacked him. Well, tried to, but it had no effect.” Rayos groaned. “I know what you said about it being a bad idea” Celia said quickly, “I’m sorry.” Rayos looked up.
“Sorry?” he said, his eyes were dark. “Why should you be sorry? I’m the one who’s supposed to be protecting you!” he suddenly got up and started pacing silently, arms crossed firmly across his chest, his head down.
“Its not your fault you didn’t know!” Celia cried. “X has ways of getting past you, he’s a demon!”
“but I should of known! I can’t believe this…two times he’s taken you, two! And I’ve always been late or not at all! What if they had killed you tonight? What if the master was in the same mind as x?” Celia paused.
“What?” she muttered, “how do you know about that?” Rayos came to a halt.
“Because I go there late.” Rayos mumbled, staring at the ground. “I got there, smashed the place up a bit asking where you were and harassed the master until I got everything that had happened out of him.” A thought suddenly occurred to Celia.
“But…you said you could see my future.”
“I could, but that damn x blocked my vision of it a while back, as soon as he first saw me in your school yard. Now I don’t know what to expect!” His breathing was furious from ranting, but he calmed down, sighed and knelt next to Celia’s bed, his eyes now soft “so he killed your father, huh?” he said softly, his eyes glistening slightly. Celia nodded reluctantly. She wished it wasn’t true. “I’m sorry.” He murmured “I wish there was something I could of done…I would of if I had known. I’m surprised that the rest of the angels haven’t herd of this…” he frowned. Celia shook her head.
“It doesn’t matter anymore, he’s gone.”
    “I’m sorry.” Rayos repeated.
“Don’t be.” She yawned slightly, what time was it? Rayos smiled slightly and sighed. “You tired. I’m sorry.” He repeated. “Go to sleep.’ He walked back over to the corner of her room and sat down beside the window. Celia raised an eyebrow.
    “Your not going?”
“Not anymore. If I’m going to keep you safe I’m afraid I’m going to be with you 24/7, I can’t let you out of my sight.”
    “But then…you don’t sleep?”
“If I was going to watch over you at night, it would be pointless if I did sleep so do you think I do?” Celia shook her head “alright, so go to sleep.” He smiled. Celia lay back down and rolled over so she wasn’t facing him so she could let her lips secretly pull into a wide grin.
