    Chapter Six

I woke up the next day with a thick fog covering my mind. I couldn’t stop thinking about what was going to happen now that Asher was in the picture, what was Kire going to do? Is he going to do what every girl’s imaginary prince charming was going to do? Sweep me off my feet and take me away to a far away kingdom?
I walked down the stairs and looked outside, it was pouring. I took a deep cleansing breath and looked out the window. The paper was of coarse out on the side walk, without plastic covering it.
I growled under my breath and took off into the rain. I picked up the soaking paper. I was about to shove it under my jacket when a bold caption caught my eye; ‘Lucifest’s Singer has a new squeeze!’ I opened the full paper and started to read the quickly streaming print. ‘The couple was seen smooching in the outside hallway of Nathaniel’s High school. “It was pretty hot and heavy.” Said Rena who is a friend a current student at the high school,’
I dropped the paper slowly and watched it fall to the ground. I fell to my knees quickly after it.

“Rayne, Rayne are you alright?” Asher said as he shook my shoulders.
I looked up at him, he was drenched. His red hair looked so soft wet, I wanted to touch it. But before I could lift my hand he picked me up. We were walking quickly now I was guessing inside my house. “How long were you out there?” He asked as he laid me on the bed.
I looked at him as he moved quickly around my room, when he looked at me I quickly looked away. “You can’t be here.” I said starting to cry. My eyes were already raw, I was guessing from crying outside.
Asher walked to my side and sat me up.
I went up slowly and kept my eyes on the coverlet.
He started to pull my shirt up. I automatically pulled it back down. “What are you doing?” I hissed as I kept my eyes down/
“I’ve seen you before there is nothing to worry about I know about your scars.” He whispered. “Plus we need you to get out of those wet clothes.” He said looking at me with his blue eyes. “I don’t want you to get sick.”
I let my hands fall and looked back at the coverlet.
He let out a sigh and pulled off my shirt, pulling another one over my head. “What am I going to do with you? First, you run away and hide with in another family. Then you fall in love with a mortal of all beings on this earth.” He whispered as he pulled off the wet jeans.
I kept my eyes low and pushed back my hair. “I didn’t mean too, I never meant to.” I whispered.
He looked up at me and smiled. “I know.” He said as he stood back up. He walked into my bathroom and came out with a pair of pants. “Here wear these, your going to be late for school.” He whispered turning around.
I stood up and stared at him. “You take off my shirt and my pants now you have the decency to turn around?” I said with a chuckle.
He nodded and pulled his red hair back into a pony tail. He started to laugh as he turned back around. “I’ll be escorting you to school today alright?”
I nodded and finished getting ready.

When I got to school I noticed that everyone was in an uproar about Kire and Sarai’s new relationship that Asher and I just hid in the corners of the school all day. By the end of the day I was ready to go home and curl up into a little ball.
I took a deep breath as I moved closer and closer to my car. Today was a living hell for me, even when I had Asher by my side I thought that I couldn’t take it. I kept my eyes on the ground so that if anybody was talking about me I wouldn’t see them.
“Rayne,” an all to familiar voice yelled. “Please Rayne wait,” He yelled again.
I looked back and saw him running at me. I wanted to run but my feet were frozen in place. “Please leave me alone.” I whimpered. “I really can’t take it.”
Kire ran up to me and almost reached me. “Rayne you need to listen to me, I know that you have been avoiding me all day.” He said this all to fast that I almost didn’t comprehend it.
“Please I-I don’t need this.” I said as I started to turn around. “Just leave me alone.”
Kire looked hurt. “You don’t need this? What the hell does that mean?” He hissed reaching for my hand.
“Hey,” Asher yelled as he ran up to fast to be human. “Don’t you lay a finger on her do you understand me?” He pushed his hand away and pulled me behind him, all at the same time.
Kire looked at him then at me. “You really are back together?” He asked sounding a little hurt. “I thought that we meant more.” He whispered pained.
I shook my head. This is what I had to do; I couldn’t be with a mere mortal. It couldn’t be in my line.
“Leave,” Asher hissed. “I cannot let you hurt her.”
“Like you did?” Kire hissed. “Yeah I heard all about that, I know she didn’t leave you because she didn’t want to be married to you, I know she left you because you told her that you weren’t right for her and that she would find some one else.” He pulled up his pointed finger and pointed it at Asher. “I don’t even think that you had love in mind when you started to go out with Rayne.”
I looked up, was he on to us?
“I know who you are now; I looked up your profile.” He took a step closer to Asher. “You don’t even belong on this planet.” He hissed. “I can’t believe that you are even going after Rayne again."
