• "Come on, you know you want to," joked Robert. Him and his twin sister, Ashley, had dared each other to stay in the church that was supposedly haunted by a giant owl-man until midnight. Neither of them believed in him, but Ashley was still terrified. They walked into the church and sat down on the steps. "What was that?" gasped Robert. "I didn't hear anything!" Ashley said, her voice shaking. "Gotcha," Robert said. My sister is so gullible, he thought. "Oh, don't do that! Mom and dad will be so angry when they find out," yelled Ashley. Robert jumped. He thought he had heard wing beats. "Okay, I'm serious this time. I thought I heard something!" "No you didn't, you're just trying to scare me again," Ashley said, laughing. "I'm serious!" yelled Robert. All of a sudden, the flashlight went out. Ashley screamed at the top of her lungs. "Keep it down!" whispered Robert. "I hear breathing.." Ashley hissed, scared to death. The sound of wingbeats rang out through the church. The siblings scrambled to their feet and ran for the door. It was locked. Robert and Ashley screached in unison as something very, very large landed behind them. Both brother and sister were picked up in giant talons and carried to the bell tower and out into the night. The last thing either of them heard was the the slow ring of the church bell calling out its mournful tune twelve times.
