• Chapter two

I suddenly woke up dripping with sweat when I realized I was in the nurse’s office. Weird how’d I get in here I thought to myself when my friend Ken came in. Ken was about my height.

He was 5”5 and had short brown hair with brown eyes. “You all right?” asked Ken. “You were out cold in the classroom so I asked if i could bring you here.”

“How long was I out?” I asked. “I don’t know, maybe about 30 minutes before anyone noticed” said Peter.

I decided not to tell Peter about my dream because I was still trying to understand it myself.

I always knew I was adopted since I looked nothing like my parents, while they both had blond hair and blue eyes I had brown hair with brown eyes, I was about 5”4 and was skinny for my age, but coming from where my dream took place sounded too bizarre.

I concluded in my head that it was just a dream and nothing more. For the rest of the day I couldn’t get the dream out of my head. I also had tons of questions with no answers.

Who was that woman? Why did I have a dream like that? Why did that place seem so familiar?

I was in a daze until Ken yelled out my name saying he’s going home without me if I don’t hurry up. I come rushing after him when he mentioned it was my 13th birthday tomorrow.

“Oh yea!” I exclaimed. “I forgot.” “How’d you forget?” Ken asked me. “You wouldn’t shut up about it for the past month.” he teased.

My 13th birthday really slipped my mind, I was too busy thinking about the dream I had. “I don’t know maybe my brain’s malfunctioning.” I said jokingly.

When I finally got home I was surprised to see my father there. “Hey dad!” I said. “Why are you home so early?” I asked. He surprised me by replying “Because you need to know where you came from before your 13th birthday tomorrow.”

“Where I came from?” I asked confusedly. “Didn’t I just come from the orphanage?”

Dad took a deep breath and said “No, your mother and I (shock runs through me when he mentioned my mother who abandoned us 8 years ago) found you at our door step 12 years ago.”

“FOUND?!?!?” I shouted. “You mean whoever’s my parents just left me there at a random doorstep with no explanation?!?!” I screeched.

“Let me finish son.” My dad said raising his voice. I tried calming myself down. Usually I don’t overreact like this but telling someone your parents left you on a doorstep is pretty overwhelming.

Once I did calm myself down my dad continued. “There was letter explaining some vital parts about your life.”He said. “For one thing you’re not from this world.” He said grimly.

I felt numb as if I couldn’t understand what he was saying. “The letter mentioned your life would be in danger the moment you turn 13 which is midnight. It said I should tell you about yourself to keep you alive.

But when I was about to read more the bottom of the page was burnt like someone didn’t want me to read it.

All it said was that you’re not from this world, your life will be in danger on your 13th birthday, your full name is Kevin Sol Cielo, and that you have to look for a girl named Leah Brook who lives in Chicago whose birth name is Leah Luna Cielo.” My dad said.

All this sounded unbelievable but the serious look on my dad’s face tells me he isn’t lying. So are you telling me on my 13th birthday I might die?!??!?
