• Luminita woke up to a strange smell. She blinked wildly as she looked up, noting a ceiling with plumes of smoke blanketing it."Glad you're awake." she jumped slightly at the voice and looked to her right. Tavian was smiling lightly at her as he looked up at the ceiling and then eventually locked his indigo eyes on her,"There's a fire." Luminita's pale eyes widened at the news,"Then what are we doing in the school still?!" her voice was more panicked than usual and her heart began thumping loudly. He just gave her a gentle smile and brushed a piece of her hair out of her face,"You passed out when the alarms went off; incase you were wondering what the lights and sounds were. We were leaving the class when I noticed that you were passed out. I picked you up and walked out of the room with you, but the fire engulfed the path they had taken. So, I walked in here."

Her eyes wandered around the room, recognizing it as the girls' batroom near the science class. Then she looked back over to him,"You're not concerned about the fire?""No." she looked down and realized that she was sitting in his lap, a deep blush streaked her face as she looked around the bathroom again. Tavian followed her gaze for a moment and then looked out the window, noticing strobe lights. A sigh escaped his lips as he looked down at her,"We better get going before they find us in here." he stood up with her and walked over to the window."Close your eyes. We'll be out of here soon." Once she heard his gentle voice, she nodded and tightly shut her eyes."Hold on tight." she wrapped her hands around his neck at the command.

Seconds later, she opened her eyes and looked around. He was still carrying her, but she noticed grass around them."Where are w-""Sh. Pretend you're asleep." with a small nod, she closed her eyes and leaned her head against his chest. Tavian continued to walk with her and over to a teacher, Miss Hartman."Oh! Lumini--!" Tavian lifted his one hand from under her and pressed his index finger against his lips. The teacher nodded,"Is she alright?""Yes, she's fine. She just hit her head is all."

The next few minutes passed by in just blackness. When Luminita finally opened her eyes again, she was blinded by bright, white lights. The air was full of sterile smells and then she realized where she was, the hospital. A low beeping filled her ears as she looked around at her surroundings. An IV was in her forearm and she was bundled up under blankets, sheets, and a cloth gown."She's up!" It was Miss Hartman's high-pitched voice that she recognized first. Followed by the low murmuring from all of her other teachers.

Miss Hartman walked to the side of her bed and smiled warmly,"How are you feeling?" Luminita nodded,"I'm fine.""It's lucky Tavian heard you through all of those alarms." Her eyes flicked over to Mr. Williams curiously,"What?""Don't you remember?" he asked as he walked over as well,"You were sitting and just fell off your chair. Tavian heard you fall and picked you up. As he walked out of the classroom, he had to use a different set of stairs. The other ones had flames." Luminita shook her head softly,"No he didn't. We were in the bathroom and then he somehow got us out." Miss Hartman looked at her, and then nodded,"You bumped your head, you probably just forgot.""No, that's really what happened."

Mr. Williams fixed his gaze on Miss Hartman and then looked at the other teachers,"Let's leave her alone for a minute, she needs some time to collect her thoughts." They all nodded in agreement and then headed out of the room. Luminita sat in her bed, confused."That's really what happened..." she muttered under a breath as her eyes flicked to the door, hearing someone enter. Tavian walked over to her and stood silently in one corner as a rush of people came in. He slipped his hood over his head and kept his face looking at the floor, placing his foot against the wall as he kept his back again it; returning to be her personal gargoyle again.

Students, parents, and doctors began asking her questions, but she ignored them. Her eyes focused on Tavian as he mysteriously stood in the corner of her room. After a bit, she looked back to them and started to say different things like 'I'm alright' and 'Thank you.' It took all of her guests hours to get all of their feelings out and questions answered. The only question she had burned in her mouth but she couldn't ask it until everyone had vanished. Slowly, one by one, they filed out of her room to let her rest. Right when she was about to ask him, a nurse came in and checked her IV, making sure it was still working. A few minutes later, she disappeared like the others.

Luminita was left with her gargoyle, her eyes stayed glued on him. She sat in silence, the only thing making a noise was the EKG she was hooked up to and the sound of the vents. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity, Tavian moved, bringing his leg to the ground as he lifted his head up to set his indigo eyes on her. She bit her tongue as she built up the courage to talk, her words beginning to get twisted again,"Why did you lie to them?" she asked softly, not getting her voice very loud. He walked closer to her bed and stood next to her, now towering over her,"I didn't.""Yes you did, we were in the bathroom and then you just...." He raised an eyebrow at her,"I just what?""We... were out of the bathroom.""We were never in the bathroom, I walked you down stairs.""You couldn't have, they were all blocked off by fire!"

Almost like on cue, Marty walked in and reattached her arm to his as she looked down at Luminita."You alright?" she asked in a tone that proved she really didn't care whether she was alright or not. Luminita nodded but didn't speak. She looked up at Tavian, but noticed that once Marty walked into the room, he kept his eyes solely on her. She felt her stomach knot even further at the fact and then she pulled her gaze away from him so she was now looking at the wall. His eyes flickered over to her for a brief second and then to Marty. He murmured something to her as she nodded and quietly left the room.

Luminita felt a tear appear in her eye as she looked back over to him. He smiled gently to her and then noticed the tear,"Are you crying?" he asked in a concerned tone. She shook her head furiously and then refixed her gaze to the wall again. Tavian looked at her doubtfully but then walked out of her room and met up with Marty. A very light breath escaped Luminita's lips as she felt the tear fall down her face as a thought ran through her head. She realized that she, was in fact, in love with the new Romanian vampire that stalked her.
