• Bowling is a silly Muggle game, I decided after playing. I had tried repeatedly to get the heavy black ball to hit at least one pin. I don't think magic would had helped any. I sulked as we exited Crazy Pins, the bowling alley.
I withdrew my wand and held onto Cedicus, my date's, dark green robe. I concentrated, spun around three times and said the magic words. I dislike Apparating, it made me sick to my stomache, but it was a speedy way to travel. We ended up on a moonlit beach, that was empty and peaceful.
I 'Summoned' my picnic basket that I had prepared earlier while Ced pulled a blanket from nowhere and set it down for us. I looked at my boyfriend with eyes of a girl in love.
Cedicus Dementus was a Dementor, but not like the ones that guard Azkaban. He still sucked the souls of people, how else could he survive? But he didn't do it out of joy, simply out of need. He was capable of speech and was almost human.
He was warm and kind. Instead of reliving my worst memories and making me depressed, I had nothing but good thoughts and a cheery smile around him.
Ced caught me looking. "What is it, Morwenna?" he asked, warmth from a smile coming full blast from under his hood. "Oh just wondering what you looked like under your hood," I replied playfully, wlking over to him. He straighted up and I was about to pull down his hood when a scaly hand caught my own fleshy one.
"Someone as beautiful as you does not need to rest her eyes on such an awfull sight," he whispered into my ear. I looked at the ground. Ced was a wonderful guy to be around but he was always putting himself down. I decided to let it go and sat down.
I opened the basket and pulled out flesh sandwhiches and bottled souls. A cannibal witch and a dementor could find all they need on Knockturn Alley. We ate in a comfortable silence, with only the munching interrupting it. I looked at the the sea, wanting to jump into the chilly water.
"Do dementors swim?" I asked. We had never had a a date close to water so I had never bothered to ask before. "We can but we tend to make the water absolutely freezing," he answered, downing the last of his bottle of souls. "That's okay, I love cold water."
I ran behind a rock and emerged minutes later with a lime green bikini. Ced had changed into a pair of dark green trunks but had still managed to keep his hood on. Darn! Thought I got him, I thought as my eyes took in his body. He wasn't all muscely but was still a freaking sight to behold.
I was at his side in a minute, running my hands over his scaly, slightly toned stomache. I could feel him staring at my suit with approval. "I like your bikini," he whispered, his hot breath tickling my ear. "These aren't so bad either," I whispered back, tugging at his shorts. He pushed me softly away and ran into the water. "Not getting away that easily!" I shouted and followed. My foot entered the water and shot right back out. He wasn't kidding when he said he made it freezing!
I took a few short breaths and rushed in, feeling my body scream in the freezing water. It took me forever to get used to it and by then Ced was really far away. I swam fast to catch up but had to take several pauses along the way.
I finally got to him and pulled him down into the water. He fought and soon had me underwater. I knew he was playing but I couldn't breathe! I tried to tell him but I guess he didn't get it. I felt my brain getting lighter and my lungs tighten. Then it went black.
I came to on the beach with Ced's mouth clamped on my own. he saw my eyes open and got off. "Oh my god, I am so sorry!" he exclaimed, pulling me into a giant bear hug. "It's okay," I said, my voice barely audible.
"I think it's time I took you home." There was something in his voice that told me he was close to tears. I patted him on the back. "It's okay," I repeated,"I know you didn't mean it." But he didn't listen. Instead he told me to get dressed and cleaned up our picnic.
I decided not to fight him and did as told. I returned to him, holding my wet bikini. He put it in the basket and picked me up. "I can Apparate still you know," I told him, struggling slightly in his arms. "I know. But I also know you don't like it."
It was a silent flight and very short. We were at my door in no time. It was an uneasy goodbye and all he gave me was an awkward kiss on the forehead before turning to go. "Bye," I said as I watched him take off.
