• The night is as dark as any night has ever been. The wind howls through the tree's and you can make out the shape of the moon through the clouds. For some reason you stayed too long at a friends house in another town and your rushing to get through the woods and to the relative safety of you home.
You hurry, trying to get through the eerie woods. You know the stories, people who went into the woods after sun down and never came back out. You've heard the speculation about what lives in these woods. Something that doesn't like intruders, something that no one has seen and survived.
A shiver runs up your spine, you feel like somethings watching you. Suddenly you hear a twig snap behind you. You spin around and your eyes dart all over the place like a deer who knows the hunter is close.

"Who's there?" you asked, your voice cracking with fear.

No one answers but you still feel the eyes upon you and you spin back around and break into a run. Suddenly fear clouds your thinking. Some one or something is following you, waiting to possibly take your life. Your heart begins to pound wildly within your chest.
Slowly the fear fades and you feel stupid for your few moments of fear. You slow to a walk and keep on the path. You go on for a few more minutes till you hear a slow chuckling coming from behind you. Once more you spin around and your facing a beautiful woman with something that looks like a snake draped around her shoulders.
She has long red hair and she has a long black cloak hanging from her full form. Her eyes are what keep you attention. They are hypnotic but also terrifying. The fear comes back in full force. You mind is telling you to turn and run but your muscles won't move. A frightened whimper escapes your lips and her smile grows.

"You should have kept running" she says in a velvety voice that entrances you but also sends a shiver down you spine.

"W....Wh....Why" you manage to say, your voice barely a whisper.

She chuckles once more, all of this clearly amuses her. The creature on her shoulders licks it's lips, it's stare hungry. She pats it's head absentmindedly and you now know what's been killing people in the forest but you have a feeling that you'll never get to tell anyone.

"Because my pet is hungry" she murmurers as the creature slides off of her shoulders and moves tword you.

You send up a prayer then the creature reaches you.

In the morning a traveler finds you body and your name is added to the long list of people who've fallen victim of the witch that lives in the forest, feeding her pet stray travelers who have the misfortune to wander into the woods after sunset.
