    Mi nombre es Sharima! I am a 28 year old Canadian living on the west coast island! I love nature, so hiking and exploring are two of my favorite past times, and around here, it's gorgeous!! <br />

    I am a photographer, interior decorator, artist, writer, singer, baker, and chef. All unprofessional of course, but two of my goals are to become a professional interior decorator & photographer. heart <br />

    I believe in Karma, living my life with the belief that people are inherently good & the way to combat negativity is to be positive. I am Spiritual. 3nodding I believe that if you genuinely want something and ask for it, you will receive it. Maybe not right when you want it, but instead, when the time is right. Everything I have ever asked for in my life that I genuinely wanted, I have received in perfect timing, at the perfect moment.<br />

    I am a very passionate, strong, loving, empathetic, fun person. I love making new friends so feel free to chat with me and get to know me. I'm very real and straight forward. Honesty is huge for me. I am always honest with everyone, whether it be online forums such as Gaia or in real life. I don't see any point to lying, it only gets people into trouble.     <br />

    I was homeless for 11 months between 2010-2011. The company I was working for in 2010 went bankrupt so nobody had a job and no one even got paid. We had to go through a ton of legal things with lawyers to get paid for our services and commitment to that company. I was lucky though, I was only owed roughly $200, but some of my co-workers were owed thousands of dollars. <br />

    Being homeless was a very life changing experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. 3nodding It has made me humble. It has made me a better person with a greater understanding of the world and how things operate. I honestly believed that all homeless people were drug addicts/alcoholics who chose that lifestyle and didn't want to do any good for themselves. Over the course of my homelessness, I realized all of our typical "societal beliefs" about the homeless were very, VERY wrong!    <br />

    Most of you are probably wondering why I didn't live with my parents...well, I didn't have any family that I could move in with because they were struggling to make ends meet as well. Not only that, but my family lives in different cities. My dad and brother live together in the same province as me, but on the mainland. My mom is 2 provinces away and already living with her husband and my two sisters. I couldn't burden them. I am my own adult. I needed to be able to take care of myself. So I became homeless. I didn't want to burden my friends any longer either. It wasn't fair to them, to anyone.<br />
    <br />
    I met a lot of people in my situation; homeless because they had lost their jobs to no fault of their own. What happens when you lose a job and cannot find another in the short period of time? You lose your place to live, your phone, your vehicle, your social circle (if they are only in it for material reasons), and hell, even your family sometimes.    <br />

    I met these wonderful, friendly, loving, caring people that I didn't think could be homeless. This one man I met had had it all; a great government job, a wife & 3 kids, dogs & cats, vehicles, and the white picket fenced house. He lost everything. His family refuses to even speak to him because they are on different "social class" levels. <br />
    <br />
    So the next time you look at a homeless person, don't automatically assume you know what's going on, it could be you. heart     <br />
