• Artist Info: It's cold today, you notice. The sky is white and the clouds whiter as they loom along the horizon. Sea washes to and fro along the sand, almost threatening to reach you. But you step back before it does.

Sand is a milky shade of brown and rocks are cast here and there along its surface. You reach down to pick one up, only to notice that it isn't a rock at all. It's a shell.

Putting the shell up to your ear, you begin to hear an eerie voice, almost as though it were a faint echo of the sea. Steady, steady yet; stronger; louder. You hold the shell closer. The sound, you notice - is forming words? It couldn't be. A voice coming from a shell stolen from the sand? Your face furrows in curiosity.

Impossible!

You cast the shell from your hand and back to the earth from where you found it.

But the voice continues.

It's alarming now, this voice. It's mesmerizing, almost. As though you were to fall into a trance. Your eyes search the beach - but find no earthly creature to give blame for the sound. All that surrounds you is miles and miles of sand with only your foot prints trailing along it.

The voice calms. Faintly. Then trickles until you can barely hear it above the roll of endless waves. You find yourself sitting in the sand now, legs pulled up at the knees and arms laying limply beside you.

It is then that you feel a pair of hands find themselves on the sides of your face. Cold fingers trail along your temples. The soft humming of a voice echoes behind you. And the warmth of breath caresses your neck. You close your eyes without even knowing why.

When you open them, she is before you. Skin as pale and soft as ivory. Eyes as blue as the sea. Hair that cascades down her back in ringlets of copper-red. And a look about her as though she already knows you, and you her.
