When Princess Yue nearly died at birth, her father prayed to the Moon Spirit to give her life, which it granted, knowing she would be useful to it later on. (Yue became the the new Moon Spirit when the previous one was killed.)
I'm cosplay a scene from the episode "The Swamp". Where Sokka has a vision of Yue, which plays on memories of him not being able to protect her.
