About
What can I say? I'm a silicon samurai, a digital warrior - I am a tactical data Marine, hear me roar and tremble in the knowledge that I can set up computer networks in the field with ease and skill.
My interests mostly center on writing, the craft, the art, the occasional frustration. I also go for martial arts, sword collecting, reading, gaming, occasional doodling and such activities as camping, deep woods backpacking and exceptionally amature photography.
Military life is not as exciting or glamorous as one would imagine. I lived and worked in a Communications battalion for two years - my job was to be something of a computer geek, out in the field and during deployments anyway. On base I pretty much just inventoried our junk and made sure it still worked. And that cycle has continued with my new unit, which happens to be an infantry battalion. Yay grunts.
I have been in the Marine Corps four years now. No I have not been in combat, and no I have not been to Iraq. I have been to South Korea, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines though. It wasn't as much fun as it sounds - mostly because going to those places involved living in tents for a month or more, rolling around in dirt and living from shower to shower, meal to meal.
What else do you want to know? Hopes and dreams? Habits and eccentricities - asl? I hope one day to get a novel published; and maybe another after that if people like it enough, and another after that one - basically I'd like to be published and maybe modestly successful author.
I don't really jest when I say I'm an eccentric - I'm very much so, especially in the world I currently live in. Partly because of my age (nearing a quarter of a century, the horror) compared to my "peers" - partly because I am, in fact, a geek. Sometimes a computer geek, but usually a joat (jack of all trades) geek. As a computer geek I don't walk around reading books on hacking linux or whatever silliness - but much to my dismay I seem to have a good intuitive grasp of computer systems. Maybe I'm just good at following the logic of the system, I don't know; what I do know is that it makes me one of "those guys" to bug for computer things. The rest of my geek time is either spent on video games (I'm not that great at them, but I do enjoy playing them) or being writerly.
I honestly don't pretend to be very interesting; if you were to run into me in a crowd it's likely you wouldn't take too much note. Most social situations irritate me, and I'm not fond of clubs or parties. Mostly I've learned to keep my mouth shut - especially when tromping around with military buddies (at least all but the ones who know me best) because ultimately I end up saying something that points out, very loudly, that I'm not really one of that flock. I blame my diction on this - I love to use esoteric words and phrasing, antiquated wording, and a larger lexicon than your typical 18-20 year old jarhead.
Right now my life basically centers on writing, gaming and being a Marine. Cracked though I may be, most of the entertaining stuff goes on inside my head and, thankfully, no one can really hear that.

haha, Yeah, I linger in there a lot. Though I usually dont post in there unless I feel motivated enough to. But yes I lurk in there a lot. Writing is after all my passion.
lol, that is quite understandable. I dropped my pack somewhere along the line too, though I did get a bout of motivation and picked it up again.
