About

I'm a 25 year old high school math & computers teacher. I graduated in 2008 from the University of Kansas with a degree in astrophysics. I occasionally tinker with the astronomical research I began as an undergrad. Previous research of mine included an investigation of the open cluster NGC 7142, determining properties such as age, distance, and searching for undiscovered variable stars. More recently, I have been working with Dr. Adrian Melott on investigation whether supermassive flares (10 - 10,000 times more energetic than anything seen on the sun) on solar type stars (which shouldn't have them) could be induced by Jupiter like planets in close orbits.

I also taught introductory astronomy labs (ASTR 196) for three years. I keep a science blog that is fairly popular.

Aside from astronomy, I'm a huge Star Wars fan and enjoy SW cosplay. Currently completed I have a decent Darth Vader, Rebel Pilot, Tusken Raider, and Jedi. In the works is a Rebel Trooper. Aside from SW cosplay, I have also done one of the white mushrooms from Kingdom Hearts which one the "Best Use of a Hula Hoop" award at Naka Kon 2007 (It wasn't really an award, but the judges liked it so much they had to invent a new category just for us). For the 2008 Naka Kon, I did a couples Ichigo/Rukia Bleach cosplay that went over extremely well. Most recently, I completed a Sesshomaru costume from Inuyasha that took nearly 9 months and $300 to complete.

I also am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms and have been doing full contact, fully armored swordfighting for 6 years. No it's not like fencing. Fencing is to the SCA as flag football is to the NFL.

I also play DDR. I can do most 9 ft songs and a few 10ft. I also do a large amount of freestyle and doubles (although not on nearly as heavy a difficulty).

HelloNoora

People overlook your faults when they agree with your positions. I regret that we must part. I had no ill feelings ever toward VoijaRisa, only respect for your knowledge. However I am just too weak to stand up to your rhetoric. So I concede that I can no longer host you on my threads anymore. That is really too bad. I had no idea how many accounts you had. That is one on you, however for the "liar"bit.

Was just checking out your profile and saw you are a member of the SCA. I didn't know they were still around. Back in the day I belonged to the Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia as a member of the Viking Horde.

*After seeing tidbit about the SCA*

I must know, where can one learn swordsmanship in this day and age?
