I would however steer clear away from the Cash For Gold schemes, Pawn Shops, Gold Parties, and et cetera that heavily advertise. They usually buy below current spot price from folks who don't know the current values, and just want whatever they are told.
Always measure by weight, and relate it to the current market value for an exact estimate.

I'de first melt the gold down to a block form before I sell it to anybody.
