It's just that sort of thing that infuriates me!!!
The criminal gets a free ride while the honest person gets screwed.
America has such a double standard when it comes to "immigration".
Illegal aliens are the big red button topic right now. 'Specially in Texas.
There is lots of steam venting and knee jerking going on, but not much else.
I love America and wouldn't be anywhere else, but we do have some big messes that need cleaning up.
One of these days I'll visit somewhere else in the world. I'd love to see Bali!
SO let me get this straight...you can only VISIT the US if you can prove you are gainfully employed?
Oh boy. More ammo for our many discussions on immigration and other related subject.
I'm sorry my country is being such a pain in the a**.
I've only been to Mexico and Cananda but that was just driving through a check point.
I'll just have to wing the art classes. Thanks for the play-doh tip though.
Austin is a very laid back city, lots of interesting odd things to see and do. AND eat!
When I was there the first time we drove by the capital building which is made of the local granite.
I was pretty shocked. They call the color "sunset red". It is most definitely PINK. My friends got quite a kick out of my reaction.
A big pink building as the capital of Texas?! Waaa?
Yeah, I'm very concerned about her getting bored. The play doh is a great idea. I had planed on having clay, but just to play with.
Your idea is better. The only things I've ever taught were computer related. Sigh, hopefully it will work out all right.
Your boyfriend must burn through those frequent flyer miles!!! heh heh
A bummer you can't even get a visa...didn't know you had to have a job! That sucks.
Is that only an American thing or is it world wide?
Austin is a GREAT town. Have you already visited? Very accommodating to the artist!
Their bumper-sticker reads "Keep Austin Weird". I love it!!! I think so will you. Really good food too.
Well, for American food that is!
Ouch, a long distance relationship! Good luck on the immigration thing, I know it's long and drawn out.
I have a friend that's been here since a kid and still only has a green card.
The girl in question is only 7. I'm thinking of using colorforms as a teaching tool for proportion.
She does draw but I haven't seen anything shes done except a page from a coloring book.
She's VERY neat and the colors are laid down quite evenly.
My problem is I've had no formal training, so I can only show her what I learned through trail and error.
I've studied a bit on my own through books and getting tips from other artists, but that's about it.
AND I'm not very good at landscape and I'm downright terrible with architecture.
Have you already taught at all? I'm not sure what to do with someone this young to keep there attention.
Humm...maybe so. Insanity is a prerequisite for being a good artist. Could be.
WHAT a minute...SNAP! If that's so, I'm AMAZING!!! biggrin
It's tough being an artist ANYwhere I think.
It's a bit tougher in Texas being a female artist, and WAY harder doing the type of art I do.
You are moving to Texas? Wow, now that's a strange coincidence. Where abouts?
You don't have to tell me which city, just N, S, E or W. Texas is pretty big. Is it hot in Brazil? Or humid?
I had the hardest time getting used to the weather here. It stinks. Really. ;p
The Zen of Teaching Art. Any tips you might want to share would be appreciated.
A friend wants me to teach her grand daughter. I have no training, never went to school for art.
I'm a computer geek, THAT I could teach!!!
I think artists by definition are nuts!!
Brazil! Wow...beautiful place AND you've traveled. I envy you.
Is it difficult being a female artist in Brazil?
You had to pick something difficult didn't you? I thought about teaching, but I just can't wrap my brain around that.
How the heck to you teach someone to be an artist? Kudos.
And watercolor are SO hard. I know I need to give them another chance...but I've been putting it off. :/
Have you ever seen anything by Steve Hanks?
No, I've never been to that site, been to a few LIKE it though. Good stuff.
Nope, no Boris influence. I do love him though. My only major influence is Virgil Finley. Amazing ink work.
Others would be the pre-raphs and classic artists such as Titan.
Did you train? Are you in the US or abroad? Where do you work? How long have you worked in watercolor? Questions questions...wink
To be honest, I don't really know much about what major she's doing because she's told me she's switching to like, five different ones and by this point I'm confused as to what it is she's doing right now. I know it's not the two you've mentioned though, which is strange because I thought that's what she'd like to do, but... And the school is some little Canadian one on the west coast. I don't really remember the name, since it's been a while since she and I were in close touch.
Can I see some of your arts, though? It sounds very interesting. = 3

I was all "working" at home on an ad design. BOO and LAME.
I had no idea, since I get PMs for marketplace items. Ninota PMs are more important than Marketplace PMs!!
