The Bards Memoirs

In my memoirs, you will find information concerning my guilds, my charity, my occasional quest either for myself or someone else. You will rarely find personal facts about Shanra's true self. So don't expect to.

All I really want for my birthday is the Gwee Horse, but if you can't afford one of those, I would rather have nothing. You can just sing happy birthday to me.

What you should know about me.

Greetings to whoever may happen to be reading this. I have been a Gaian now for 2 years today, 9/11/09.

In September of 2007, my daughter showed me the site and I became addicted. Yes, addicted; not just a fan. I have spent the better part of the last 2 years online from the time I woke up in the morning, until I went to bed, many times in the wee hours of the morning.

I started my first guild within 3 weeks of being here and that guild is still in operation, it's just not owned by me any longer. I then met another Gaian and together we created my second guild. It was then my dream to gather together all Gaians who had dragon in their name. That didn't work too well and I ended up turning that guild over to someone else. I then found someone with the same dream as myself and we got the Blue Dragon guild started. The gentleman who helped me found the guild lost his account and eventually made the decision to leave Gaia forever. The Blue Dragon now has over 100 Gaians as members; all of them having some form of the word dragon in their name.

Another thing that began to happen a lot to some of my guild members, was the event known as hacking. It then became my desire to create a charity that would assist those who had lost their accounts or their items to hackers, to regain their dignity so they would not just leave Gaia. With the financial assistance of a few very dear friends, the Phoenix Charity was created and is currently on the List of Charities if you would care to look us up. In order to keep the Charity funded however, one of my original guild members and supporters, came up with the idea of having an auction to raise gold to fund the Charity. The Auction House was soon up and running and has brought in over 200,000 gold for the Charity thus far. We changed the original format of auctioning off sets of items, to auctioning off Monthly Collectibles, Cash Shop items and Evolving Items.

All of these endeavors are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things I have opened or started here on Gaia. There was the Dancing Dragon Tattoo Parlor, Gaians for Rush guild, The Bard's Game Item Emporium, the Pink Bunny Slipper Club of Gaia Guild and countless quest threads and temporary shops. I was asked by various friends to help them run their guilds, so there is also the Writer's Guild of Gaia, Dragons and Other Fantastic Creatures Guild, and a yet-to-be-named guild, called TBA. So as you can see, when I say I was addicted to the site, you know what I mean. I am still very devoted to Gaia and to the close friendships I have made here over the last 2 years, but I have made the decision to take my life back from Gaia. Therefore, I have decided to leave my avatar as she currently is and get rid of everything else in my inventory. My friends benefitted from that and received gifts from me of items on their wish lists. Many of my items will be put up for auction to benefit the Charity and some of them were gifted to newcomers on the site.

If you are reading this, and you decide to send me a friend request, you will find that I have them blocked. With over 200 people on my list, I have to get to know a person first before I will add them to my list. So if you really think you want to be my friend, look up my threads and come chat with me when I'm online. Send me a pm to say hello or comment here on my profile. My Ignore List is very long, so if you plan to spam my account or advertise offsite websites, you will be added to that list and reported.

Please do not post links to Arena entries, requests for handouts, Post This On 10 Profile messages, or requests for donations on my Profile. Comments such as those will be deleted without being answered.

It is one of my favorite colors and there really aren't that many when you consider everything else. Like with hair? There seems to only be one hair item and it has other colors in it too. And purple too. I hope all the items are nice. I am working on the fourth. I have no idea how many there even are. I was kind of hoping they would do the orphan thing again.. I thought that was really fun.

I would have thought it would be a really great gift since you are putting in a lot of things and some people may even be tempted to donate big items thinking they will get something great in return... At least I only gave junk I didn't want anyway! ^_^ I just got the dress for caroling. It is really pretty. It is nice to see green this year since it seems they usually do something red.
Melodianme13 12/18/2009 6:18 pm: I have two so far. Boots and a coat item. Have you donated 250 items? I was giving a lot of my junk items I was only too happy to get rid of like the many skittle necklaces that only take up space. Do you know what the item is for the donating event?
Melodianme13 12/18/2009 6:14 pm: I didn't expect such a quick response. Heartburn huh? I often wake up in the middle of the night with it. A couple tums should do the trick as it can get pretty nasty. I hope your threads and guilds are doing well. I haven;t been on enough to really do much. I usually just come on long enough on friday or saturday to see the evolving items and I do even that less and less as I no longer have any of them. Though I did break down and get the Noel's gift thing. I have a little time on my hands right now so I thought I would join the Christmas theme to try and get some more items.
