Personal
Real name: Let's preserve the mystery, shall we?
Age: I get asked this a lot for some reason. I'd really rather not say. I feel young. But in anime years, I'm as old as dirt. Let's just say I graduated from college quite a while ago.
Gender: Female. I'm not sure why so many people think I'm a guy.
Location: U.S.
Occupation: Freelance artist/designer/cinematographer. Recently graduated from grad school (in film) and I'm pretty much doing a little of everything for the moment.
Likes: Boba drinks, movies, classical music, anime, sci-fi/fantasy, reading, snow, solitude, spicy food, trail mix with m 'n m's, swordsmen, and erm, art, of course.
Dislikes: Most bugs, onions, garlic, cell phones (especially in movie theatres), pointless conflict, FedEx, and really tall palm trees.
Favorite anime series:
-- Rurouni Kenshin. My favorite by far. I'm so obsessed! ^_^x
-- Fullmetal Alchemist
-- Last Exile
-- Gungrave
-- Vision of Escaflowne
And many more....
Some of My Favorite movies: (Most of these are guy movies! )
-- Lawrence of Arabia
-- Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
-- Blade Runner
-- Aliens
-- L.A. Confidential
-- Miller's Crossing
-- A Room with a View
-- The Usual Suspects
-- Once Upon a Time in China
-- The Princess Bride
-- Trainspotting
-- LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
-- Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (I know it's technically not a movie, but I think of it as one)
Some of My Favorite books: (Sci-ri/fantasy freak!)
-- Dune by Frank Herbert
-- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
-- Invader by C. J. Cherryh
-- The Game of Kings by Dorothy Dunnett
-- Kushiel's Dart by Jaqueline Carey
-- Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
-- Freedom and Necessity by Steven Brust & Emma Bull
Will you put me on your Friendslist?:
Um, sorry, but I have my Friendslist option turned off. If you want to contact me though, my PM's are always open.
Art Related
What do you use to draw your pictures?: For on-line pics, I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet. (I recently got a Graphire4 as well for my laptop. It's nice too.) I draw from sketch to finish directly on the computer. My favorite tools on Photoshop are the round brush and the smudge tool (set on a round brush with a hard edge.)
How do you draw your pictures?: I don't even know where to begin with this one. So I think I'll put this off until later.
Which art school did you go to? / Did you major in art?: I was a film/pre-med major in undergrad. And I never went to art school. So, I'm sorry, but I can't really tell you any useful information about how to get into art schools, since I really have no idea myself.
Will you draw me a picture?: I'm terribly sorry, but I don't do requests or commissions for Gaian gold (although I will occasionally do real life commissions). Please don't PM me stating "I know you don't do requests or commissions, but could you draw me something anyway?" I'm afraid I'll still have to decline. Thanks for thinking of my artwork though. I'm flattered.
May I use/post your art?: Please ask me first. I don't care if it's for your sig, your wishlist, your guild, your RPG, your website, whatever. Ask me first. Except for a few rare occasions, I usually won't mind. But if you don't bother asking me before you post my pics, and I somehow find out about it... I won't be very happy (especially if you hotlinked!), and I'll most likely be sending you an e-mail....
EDIT: Due to too many people stealing my pics, I'd prefer if you did NOT use them in RPG's or as part of website layouts (like backgrounds) please. I find that in those instances, people often don't give proper credit for the pics. And many times, still others will take them thinking that they're available for common use. I've had some of my pics used as backgrounds all over the place at sites like Xanga and MySpace. I really dislike that. Sorry. I also really dislike it when people alter my pics by painting over them or changing colors. That drives me nuts, actually. I don't usually mind if you post my art, but please don't mess with it or butcher it in any way. That makes me cry....
Favorite artists:
Dead ones: Waterhouse, Sargent, Turner, Friedrich
Live ones: Dusso, Brom, Whelan, Rodney Matthews, Craig Mullins
Favorite art materials: - Photoshop: My favorite medium. All my arena pics are CG pics. I don't post my traditional media pics on-line.
- Colored Inks: I'm talking about the kind you apply with a brush, not a pen. I like Winsor & Newton brand inks. Pretty....
- Pencils: Preferably mechanical, especially the drafting ones that are solidly made with a nice weight to them. I like using .05, .07, and .09 with either 2B or HB lead, depending on whether I'm doing detail work or shading.
- Acrylics: Too bad I never have time for these anymore.
