Here is the tool, I'm gonna discuss in this journal entry.
So I found this interesting little tool in someone's signature. I decided to do a little experiment to see how accurate this thing was. Wanna know why? Of course you do (even if you don't, I'm gonna tell you). The same signature was bashing Meyer. While she isn't the best published author out there, there is no reason to bash her at every opportunity, so, well, those sentiments gave way to this experiment.
I gathered together various pieces of my writing to test this thing. I tested them in the following order: Chapter one of my story Beautiful Darkness (you can read it here; if you would like); Day Four of my Gaian Drabbles (Posted in this journal as The Seven Years); a recent role play opening (found here); the personality of one of my characters (written in first person and located here); the history of another character (written recently and not posted anywhere); the history of my villian, Axyr Doezi, the main character of Beautiful Darkness(not available online); my short story A Sinner's Prayer (can be read here); my most recent drabble, as you may have noticed, I stopped posting them >.< (not available online); another short story, entitled Lost (here is where this one can be read); the opening of the story I'm rewriting for NaNoWriMo this year (not available); last, another chapter of my story Beautiful Darkness, my favorite chapter actually (read here). All of these are written by me, I promise. I thought about using one of my fanfictions as well, but figured that there might be complications with those, so I only used original stuff.
These are the corresponding results I got: HP Lovecraft, Stephanie Meyer, Anne Rice, Stephen King, Charles Dickens, J.K. Rowling, Dan Brown, Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, L. Frank Baum, Dan Brown (I had to look some of them up because I didn't know who they were. XD). Now, I was concerned by these results as they seem rather, erratic. Are these authors similar enough that a single person could really portray pieces of each of them, or are they so completely different that it just seems impossible? If it is practically impossible, does this make the tool inaccurate, or does it mean that my writing style just changes that much? Questions, questions. Please do help me finish up this little experiment by telling me your opinions and such. ^^ Thanks.
(By the way, you needn't actually read my stuff, the links are only there so you can if you'd like, just as the links to pages about the authors are there just to benefit you if you, like me, don't know who all of them are.)
