Chapter 1: The First Lighthouse
((It's my first fanfic, so go easy on me. xP
I know there's a lot of talking and stuff blah blah blah oh well. Oh and this isn't, as people know, how the story goes. This is my interpretation of it thank you very much. All characters are belong to Camelot yeh yeh. xD))
Isaac stared up at the magnificent towering lighthouse standing before him. He shivered, not being used to the cold, or being near an ocean for that matter. At a mere age of 17, stood a great task for young Isaac and his two companions. Garet, a 17 year old with a bulky build, blazing red hair that stood straight up, and Ivan, 15 and and small, half the size of Garet, but with twice the brains. Isaac was like a combination of both of them. Medium stature with pointed, out-of-control brown hair. These 3 young boys were destined to save the world..
Hey!
Isaac stopped.
Issac!
"Oh, what is it, Flint?" Flint was Isaac's first Djinni he had encountered when starting his journey.
You know you can't enter the lighthouse, right?
"What?! Why not?"
Weeeellll. Why do you think?
Isaac blinked. He had thought there would be no problems entering any of the lighthouses. He sighed. "I have no idea, Flint.."
Jeez, you're not as smart as you look! Let's see if you can put the pieces together. The lighthouse is of Mercury. You are a Venus adept, Garet is a Mars adept, Iv-Isaac cut the Djinni off to bring his hand to his face with a loud SMACK. The thought of needing a Mercury adept had not even crossed his mind.
All the while, Garet and Ivan had been intently staring at Isaac talking to himself, their ears did not catch 'Flint'. "Hey uh.. Isaac, you feeling okay?" Garet asked while putting a hand on Isaac's shoulder, scaring Isaac greatly.
He jumped about a foot off the ground and drew his sword, turning around. Upon seeing Garet, who was now almost falling on the ground laughing, and Ivan trying to hold in his laughs, Isaac sheathed his sword back into the holster to try and tell his friends the bad news. "Guys, I don't believe we can enter the lighthouse qui-" He was cut off
"Isaac, we know, don't worry, we have a plan." Interupted Garet with a sly grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
"We..?" Ivan asked and cocked an eyebrow at Garet.
"O-okay it was Ivan's idea, but I agree with it! Remember that blue haired girl? She was for sure a mercury adept!" Garet said.
Isaac stared at both of them. "Really? How do you know?" He asked, intrigued.
"She used psynergy, I haven't met a person who could use psynergy who wasn't an adept." Ivan replied.
"You've met other adepts besides us?" Isaac questioned.
"No.. you're the first people I've met that could use psynergy. But that must mean only adepts may use it!" He replied.
Isaac thought about this, then realized something. "She's already in the lighthouse, isn't she?" He asked.
"We don't know that, plus we may not even need her to enter the lighthouse, just for the test inside." Ivan replied with a smile.
Isaac grinned. "You're awesome Ivan, it's nice to have some brains on this team for once." He teased Garet.
Garet was getting flustered. "W-w-we should g-get going.." He trailed off.
"Little cold there, Garet?" Ivan laughed.
"Shut up!" Garet shouted, "Let's get going!" And he took off towards the lighthouse.
The two remaining boys finished laughing and followed closely behind, for once forgetting the hardships of their quest.
Ivan reached the linoleum tile stairway of the Mercury Lighthouse first, followed by Isaac and then a barrage of Wait up.. Hold on... Slow Down's from Garet and Garet himself. They stared into the dried out fountain, expecting it to be frozen water but finding nothing. They made their way to the opening to find a statue blocking the path.
"Heh." All three of them stated, tilting their heads to the right and placing a hand on their chins.
They all knew it was too easy. The was one of the elemental lighthouses after all, and a mere statue that could easily be moved using psynrgy just seemed so simple a mere child of alchemy could do it. They stared down through the large cracks before the entrance, they seemed pretty deep.
"Maybe it's to keep people out?" Garet thought aloud.
"Or maybe to keep whatever's in there.. in?" Ivan replied.
"Hey! You're the people that were in my grandparents house, weren't you?" Yelled a voice from the snow.
The boys all turned to look to where the voice was coming from to find the blue haired girl. "Are you trying to get into the lighthouse?" They nodded. "I'm sorry, but only people from my clan are allowed in." She stated.
"But we have to get in! It's already lit! There's still a chance to catch Saturos, Menardi, and Alex!" Garet exclaimed.
The blue haired girl stared at Garet. "How do you know Alex?" She questioned.
Ivan walked over to the girl and grabbed her hand. He dragged her infront of Isaac, and began to read his mind and transmit Isaac's thoughts to the girl.
Ivan released his grip on her, and she just stared at the ground infront of Isaac.
"I can't believe it's up to you three.. And Alex.. how could he do this to me, to our clan, to the village.." Tears started to form at her eyes.
The three boys just stared at eachother wondering what they should do. Do they hug her? She's a complete stranger. Do they try and console her? Again, she's a complete stranger. Do they leave her here? That's just not nice.
"I.. I want to help.." She finally stated.
"Help? Are you sure? I mean, you are a girl!" Garet laughed and recieved two punches from Isaac and Ivan.
"Y-yes. I've decided. I couldn't go on living normally knowing I couldn't in someway help the world. I'm Mia." She looked up at Isaac with an hand reached out.
Isaac inturn reached out too, getting properly acquainted. Her hands were like silk. "Isaac."
"I'm Garet, and he's Ivan.. I can tell her myself Garet, I'm not a child!" Mia and Isaac both laughed at this.
"Are they always like this?" She asked. "I never said you were!"
"Oh, you'll find out, trust me." He laughed again. "Then I can answer for myself, a**!"
She laughed, staring at her new friends. They had just met eachother, and yet she knew as much about all of them as Isaac did. "Watch your mouth, little boy!"
"Argh you are so annoying sometimes!"
A giant lizard stood before the group, a battle axe in hand. Mia was shocked. "How are there monsters in here!? There's never been any evil in here!" She cried out, horrified about what Alex and his company had done.
"Don't worry, we'll take care of it." Ivan stated before taking out his staff.
His staff was glowing a dark purple. It instantly shot out of the staff, hitting Isaac and Garets arms, making them buldge a bit bigger.
"Whoa.." Mia murmured.
"It's called impact. It makes you stronger for a short period of time. I'm the brains of the team, they're the brawn." Ivan said.
"I bet you could be the brawns if you 'impacted' yourself a few times." She winked at him.
He blushed and returned his eyes to the battle to see Isaac blown towards them.
"Ah..ah.. He's tough.." He groaned. "Ivan, care to help?"
"Oh uh.." His attention snapped to Isaac, his face still blushing. "Y-yeah sure uhm.. Okay here it goes."
His staff lit up again, a lighter shade of purple this time. A flash shot straight up, then curved down towards the giant lizard. He froze, and collasped after the blast had finished. Garet fell onto his back, breathing heavily. "Damn lizard.." He moaned. "What if we do run into Saturos and Menardi? I have nothing left after that!"
"I guess it's mine turn to help!" Mia said and walked over to Garet smiling.
She placed her hands on his chest and concentrated. Blue psynergy flowed into Garet through her hands. It stopped and she stood up along with a Garet. "Wow, I feel incredible! Thanks Mia!"
She giggled, "no problem Garet, it's what I do best."
The trials of the Mercury Lighthouse have been complete. The group made it too the top, but it was too late. The beacon had been lit, it could not be undone. "We shouldn't have stayed at that restaurant for lunch!" Yelled Isaac.
"But it was real food! Real food! Not rations! Oh, it was good". Garet daydreamed and drooled slightly.
"We're too late though! We failed. Who knows how far Saturos and Mendardi are now.." Isaac cried out. He slumped to the floor and sat down.
"Isaac.." Mia sat beside him. "It's okay, we'll just catch them at the next one!" She smiled sweetly at him, trying to brighten his spirits.
"Uh.. guys?" Ivan said before a scream and collasping to the floor.
The remaining three whirled around to see Saturos standing behind Ivan.
"Ivan!" Mia screamed and ran towards him.
Saturos responded by creating fireballs with his psynergy and sending them towards Mia.
They were right on target, and Mia fell close to the edge of the lighthouse, but thankfully stopped before she went over. Isaac and Garet drew there weapons and stood defencively.
Saturos laughed maniacly. "Pitiful.. They are weak, how could you call them your friends?"
"Leave them alone!" Isaac yelled, glaring his teeth.
"And you expect me to listen to you? Hah! You... actually believe that I, the great Saturos, will listen to a child such as yourself? You're a hilarous creation. I bet your parents are disgusted with you. Well, your mom is at least, your dad's.. well, his opinions of you don't really matter anymore, do that? He grinned, licking his lips.
Isaac snapped, he sprinted towards Saturos, tears in his eyes. He lifted his sword and swung it with all his might. Saturos grinned and taunted the boy by waiting until the second to move. He didn't move fast enough and the tip sliced through his armor and drew blood. He yelled and looked at the beacon. "Gah! This damn lighthouse is draining my strength" He groaned.
Isaac grinned, he knew this was his chance. He made move to Saturos but suddenly heard the clang of metal behind him. He turned to see Garet drop his axe and fall to his knees.
"He.. he's right Isaac.. I.. I can't lift my axe.." He whispered horsly. "If only I was stronger.."
Isaac ran back but stopped when he saw a pool of blood around Ivan. He rushed to his body and was relieved to find him breathing. He used cure to patch up Ivan's wounds and stopped the bleeding. Mia had gotten to her feet and was staring in Saturos' direction. Isaac turned to see Alex.
"Ah, Miss Mia, a pleasure to see you again." He smiled at her.
"You.. how could you betray everyone like that! Especially me!" She cried, tears streaming down her face.
"Mia, Mia, Mia.." He said, shaking his head and bring a hand to his face. "There was never anything between us, and if you thought there was, you are gulible."
"You said you loved me! The way you held me.. there's no way you could have been lying!" She cried some more.
"Well my dear, it's called acting. I never cared for you." Mia collasped to the floor after hearing this, bawling.
Alex laughed with Saturos, "Has Menardi ever acted like that?" Alex asked as he picked his friend up.
"Never, hell she acts more like the Red haired one, only more manly" He responded and they both laughed.
Alex moved to a platform while Saturos used his sword as a support to move himself to the platform. Alex concentrated and the platform started moving down, it was an elevator. The descended out of view.
Isaac dropped his sword and fell on his back. He looked to his right to see Garet trying to stand, but failing and falling over. Infront of him Ivan lay breathing in a pool of blood, unconcious. And to his left, Mia, crying like she lost her entire life.
Boy what a mess..
"I know, Flint.."
