Introduction: Truth
What would the answer be if you asked someone if there's such thing as magic? The answer is pretty obvious to the uncreative mind of a normal person. How about demons? Do they exist? Of course, the answer is still a negative to humans. But this was a world where demons do exist, where there is such thing as magic. In this world, some demons hated the humans for being so weak. To them, they were just cattle. Demons were the monsters of a human's nightmare if they've chosen to be monsters, if they've chosen to bring the small humans into a parade of panic. Though, other demons have come to peace with the human being, not really seeing them as a threat that they had to cause fear to them in order to keep them away.
It was too late for that anyway. As long as the humans kept their necks away from forbidden zones, then everything's cool. The content demons just lived amongst them, some openly and some secretly. Most preferred the ladder. It was funny that devils and angels were real in this world as well, but, seeing any of the two was a chance in three lifetimes...
Back then.
Ever since that year of the first lunar eclipse of the century, things suddenly became amiss. No one knew exactly what, but recent sightings of devils took many spectators off guard. Of course, humans refused to believe that there is such thing as devils, that those very sightings could be explained logically that it was all just a figment of the mind. A trick. They refuse animism. Few months after, the mortals were in a near panic when there was an attack made on a couple by some... thing in broad daylight. The numbers of these hellish beings started to increase slightly, their motivation still foggy to those who believed. Slayers were soon brought to the picture to control the population, half-breeds of angels who were called Earth Angels. Or as most would call them, Fallen Angels. Meant to stay on the earth, their job was to make sure that the devils, including demons who sided with them, were to be eliminated from this world and sent back to Lucifer's throne. But enough about them.
The lunar eclipse was only four years ago. Everything is still fresh and confusing.
Even to other demons. But there was a rumor that the reason why the devils have been showing up is to find their master's power. When a devil takes a hold of it, feeling the Darkness consuming their beings along with a sacrificed of a strong human and angel, Lucifer himself might actually walk the earth. But, someone already has that power. It was by mistake.
A demon.
The transfer was incorrect in the beginning, but the power was still very powerful and becoming stronger every passing year. It was only one ingredient to bring back Lucifer, but it was also enough to be the next Apocalypse. Now, what would happen if all the ingredients were in place?
December 23
Lee Cohane couldn't help but wake up early to find something through the sites that he knew and hacked. It was just some normal surfing that he did, the computer monitor practically being the one source of warmth in his wired invaded room because the heater in it broke down so that way Winter could torture him. He spent hours going through sites and files to look for something that seemed useful to his friend, even though she didn't ask for it. She needed help. Though, his job is to locate any demon or devil activity that was getting out of hand that threatened the lives of humans, give his friend the buzz, and she would do her job by getting rid of them. She was almost like that character John from Constantine. Almost. Or one of those Dark-Hunters from the novel series she would read by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
She wont approve of his help for her condition. Or maybe she will. It wouldn't matter anyway, for her well-being was all that mattered to him. He's nineteen now and she saved his sorry a** when he was only fourteen and Lee felt that it was necessary to repay the debt. Somehow.
A site address caught his eye when he was looking up trusty Google. An Academy?
"Huh," the young blond drummed three fingers against his chin as he started reading. "This could be it, maybe..." and without hesitation, the information started to print. Soon after, he took out his cell phone then dialed.
She was laying under the covers of her bed, her hand slumped off the side while she lay in great comfort and warmth. Until the phone rang. The woman let out an agitated breath before she searched the phone with her hand, knocking off a few things including the phone itself. Her arm reached down hastily then brought the phone to her ear, not saying a word.
"Hey, how'd you sleep?" asked a familiar voice. She would be grateful for the concern, if she didn't wake up by this very phone call at this moment.
"Mmm... you ruined it..." she mumbled, her mind still tired. It was amazing that she didn't go back to sleep. In fact, she had every right to land her head on the soft pillows and go back to dreaming under the thick covers.
"Don't hang up," Lee suddenly ordered as if he knew she was going to do just that. His friend would only stay on phone calls like this if the reason for disturbing her was a good one. "I got something for you, I think it may help you out,"
"Help?" the sleepy woman mumbled, rubbing her head with a tired hand.
"Yeah, you know... It's an Academy!" The woman growled, her patience running low.
"Lee," she growled with warning.
"Hold up, hold up!" Lee said quickly. "There are teachers there who are just like you and they teach their students how to control their gifts and learn more about their power. There's no fee, you just have to have certain attributes, you know? I'm sure that they could help you out, chickity,"
"I know about my power. I know how to control it. There's really nothing that they could do to help me," she said. "No dice, kid,"
"Hey, for all you know, they might just know the answer to your question. Come on, this whole thing is giving me the good vibes! You know how much that says something!" He was right. Lee always seemed to feel some negativity in anything. Even in a puppy. What's bad about the puppy? It's not for free. "So, what do you say, love?"
"You're still not convincing me,"
"You'll regret it. They even have an angel as one of the students,"
"What?" Now that got her attention. That was strange. Seeing an angel in public was something new and already becoming common through her eyes. But an angel openly being in a private academy? She rubbed her eyes then made a long heavy sigh. There was silence on the line, the young man waiting for her.
"Well?" Lee asked, urging for some response to his offer for her to go. The woman made a light laugh. Oh, he knew that laugh well.
"Do your job, Cohane," she said, wanting to hear no more of this. It was way too early.
Lee imitated the heavy sigh she made earlier then shook his head. "Just think about it later, Yamiko,"
"Mmmhmm..." she hung up with phone, that holder still on the floor, then hid under the double layer of crimson covers and went back to sleep instantly.
