Things to Note
One unfortunate thing about Gaia is that some of the rules are a bit... hidden. I know, we have the Terms of Service but who here can honestly say they read the entire thing when joining and furthermore - understood it?

Put it simply, you cannot exchange Gaia gold or items for anything off-site. This includes getting people to play a game on another website (regardless of your intentions). The funny thing here is that I didn't know this when I first joined Gaia and almost did it as part of a charity (where instead of bumpign you played a cheap flash game and the high score would win). Luckily the charity bomb'd and we never actually ran the competition.

It's one of those things I wish was made a little clearer when people join, unfortunately it's buried in the legalese of the Terms of Service.

I'd say it's common sense for most sites to have something like this in place, but of course not everyone thinks that way >.<

I disagree about common sense. Many people I'm getting to join Gaia haven't been to any sorts of sites like this. They haven't dealt with virtual currency. So why should they think that selling it or buying it is bad?

I'd be nice if randomly Gaia could have a way to remind a person of a rule. 'Hey, did you know that you shouldn't do this' sort of thing.

I saw someone that got perma'd for paying someone that helped them with their homework. xD That one I can see why it wouldn't be quite clear for the situation.
