Maybe you could pm me or do a hangout to find out? I'm pretty good at basic stitches and probably could help you.

most common mistakes i've seen:

dropping stitches.
trying starting with a simple yarn so you can see what your doing. Lots of people want to go straight to fun fur and homespu and other crazy yarns but you can't see where you'e putting your needle and it makes it harder for a beginner. Other then that its just practice.

Adding stitches.
This is easy to do if you are purling or alternating between knitting and purling. just remember that if you are purling the string should be in front of your needles and work. If you are knitting it should be behind your needles and work.

They gain more stiches *hope i said that right* and they sometimes loose stiches... oh and be sure your yarn is strong casue it can break. Whats fun and you should try is using fun fur *the fury yarn* and just do a plain knit uhhh I want to say around 20 stiches per row is good... XP but what would I know all I can do is knit and perl... i just learned yesterday how to cast off haha. XD

Fun fur yarn, whilst it can be a wee bit awkward and fiddly is fantastic for someone who's learning! I used it to knit a really long scarf in garter stich when I first started out and the fluffiness hides all manner of sins, so you get good practice at the basic stitch and you still have something wearable at the end!

My first piece of knitting was this embaressing thing done on a length of purple yarn my aunt had at the bottom of her knitting bag. I had this sort of holey trapezoid...I tore it out because I didn't know how to bind it off.

'Twas just practice. I have my first scarf- a white, matted thinger. It's cool, though. I'm trying to knit a sweater, still...--;

My Gaianniversary is January 21st! I am questing 21 people to give me 300 gold! Not unreasonable, is it?
