Oh yes, this is Jaden through and through. He's amazing when it comes to lying, its really an art that's hard to teach, yet he's mastered it. Even kings must know how to lie, and then cover it up gracefully, so that no one will ever know the truth. He uses people like pawns, and he feels absolutely no remorse at it. Speaking of which, he's good at it too, its one of the few things he likes (and is good at) besides dueling, which speaking of, isn't much. Even heaven runs off of lies, as he says, even something "perfect" has its faults, and lying is needed to "make the world go 'round". The world functions off of it, practically. The thing with Jaden is, that he can keep up a great poker face (which, by the way, is actually another thing he's okay at), he usually has the same level, cold expression. He's totally apathetic, and sometime, he does smile even. But of course, when he smiles, its for no good reason, he has his "dark" smile, that he uses whenever things are going his way, but it never changes, even when things aren't. A King must never show a face of weaknesses in front of the audience, and that is the key to victory. Confuse your opponent, fear is natural, but if you are truly strong, you will not experience it like most people do, and strength and power will guide you to victory. The blunt truth is, when Jaden's smiling, its nothing drastically sadistic looking, but her overall countenance, would tell the mentally retarded person down the street he's plotting something not nice. And the thing that is so deceptive is, that he shocks people sometimes, when they see him when he's cold (not smiling), they automatically think: "soft - spoken, quiet, uninvolved", but when he gets really into dueling, he's not going to hesitate to get caught up in the battle . . . and declare his power of being the Next King, and preach his "doctrines" about "overwhelming opponents with sheer power and skill". And when he gets challenged (by an actually decent, or at least in his opinion, opponent) his entire demeanor changes, to obsessive battle oriented, dark, and he can smile in a way that it looks almost obviously sadistic. And then of course, he has a laugh, a chuckle really, when he's about to win, and you can see the force of which he draws his cards with: this guy is not what you thought he was. And if it wasn't obvious, Jaden doesn't have any friends, but he can go make some, and he does note down things about people: how they can be of use to him in the future. Jaden's a person of many faces. And you'll never predict what he's going to do next, not someone to be messed with.

This ties in with him being manipulative, it backs it up, to be more accurate. On a day to day basis, when he isn't trying to destroy, demoralize, or make a demonstration of, some poor soul, the word to describe what Jaden looks like, could by cold and icy. Its an unanimous agreement to anyone who's even met the dude, he's got no heart, a heart of ice, a black heart. And its true, Jaden doesn't care about anyone; except his cards, or his "pride", as he calls it. Its ironic really, his namesake, Jaden Yuki, was a kind person, caring for every bit of creation, his friends, a happy, chill, cool kid . . . who happened to be one of the greatest duelists to ever exist. Jaden's actually proud of being named after a King of the Games, its fitting for him, as he says, after all, everyone who actually knew the guy (for being nice and cool) is already dead, so no one really knows what he was like; except all Jaden knows and cares about was that he was a legendary duelist. And he likes his name, for that reason. And the second part, Kei, means "Lord", or "Ruler", or as he interprets, "King", and to be a King you couldn't have a heart for anything except his cards. He shows this quite obviously, by his many actions. Jaden won't look twice if he passes someone bullying a younger, unskilled duelist, he won't hesitate to destroy an opponent, even if they plead for mercy, and forfeit even, the duel must be fought through. And he's phlegmatic, so if someone breaks down crying right in front of him, he'll just give them that indifferent, impassive, what - do - you - think - you're - doing - disgracing - The - Next - King look, and, after a second, if they're lucky, two, he'll tell them to get out of the way, because they're obstructing him. And he doesn't respond much to pain, be it someone else's, or his own. And if they, at that point, still don't move, he'll just "remove" them, all the while keeping up the exact same face, perhaps even an apathetic, deceiving smile on his face. Despite all of this Jaden is not stoic, he does not have the same face all the time, although he is a little bit, seeing that the expression he is wearing doesn't really change that much. Although, being phlegmatic, there is one, no two emotions that he'll actually respond to, one, is irritation, which involves "dispatching", usually in a discreet way, the object/person causing this, and the second is challenge, when he's challenged, when his throne looks like it'll be in even the slightest jeopardy, its amazing how aggressive he can suddenly become, from indifferent and impassive, to dangerous, deadly, and downright scary.

Jaden has a huge ego. And he acts all cool and calm all the time, and that does come naturally, but with that, comes a huge sense of pride, and with the whole King thing going on, he's undoubtedly extremely protective when it comes to his ego. He won't do anything that'll even risk damaging it, but his rather impulsive nature, at accepting any challenge, as long as its somewhat decent, is actually rather controversial to that fact. That might also be because of the fact that Jaden underestimates his opponents, rather severely sometimes, although this improves after dueling them once, but it does put him in some unpleasant situations. Jaden also thinks of his opponents as little more than entertainment for himself and his audience. Along with this comes a sense of threatrics, or which Jaden is good at, and he often says something like, "Let's kick this duel into overdrive", while pointing his finger directly up into the sky. He often shows little respect to other duelists, especially the one he defeats. His arrogance tends to lead to a disadvantage towards him. He doesn't really respect all that everyone has done to help him, even if they truly felt sorry for him either. Jaden uses first person a lot, he talks about himself, because, well, obviously, he looks down on a lot of people. It's not like he brags, but he makes it obvious, even using confusing, mocking speech sometimes. And its not only that, its just the way he looks . . . that calm, manipulative, you - just - made - a - bad move look that he always seems to have on every time he duels, when he's not yelling out his King doctrines at his opponent. Jaden has a naturally "better - than - you" look about him, and that's not something he really helps, his opponents get agitated by looking at him sometimes, and appearances do matter, quite a bit, Jaden's appearance actually quite fits what he is like on the inside.

It'd be cool if I could say that Jaden was a downright genius that could control the world with his mind . . . but he's not. Unfortunately. Jaden's not the ace student in every subject at duel Academy, and really has little skills beyond mind games, dueling - related stuff, acting like he's better than everyone else, although he is better than a lot of them, and of course, using people. He's got no musical or artistic talent, and has not appreciation for art (beyond duel monster design), and if you try to make him cook . . . you're asking for arson and wildfire. But if you took away the money, and threw him out on the streets to get a job, he'd end up getting fired from every place he tried out for, much like her father. But he does do well in school, he can blackmail get teachers to give him automatic perfect A's, because of his mind, and because of the air he gives off . . . its just, unnatural. But no, he is not the next Newton, all because he's top of the school in psychics or chemistry, its all a matter of observation. You'd be surprised how distracting "friends" or "acquaintances" or even studies can be, no Jaden has his cards, and then he has his intelligence, he figures stuff out, quite a logical youth. But on top of all of this, where are you going to get evidence? One's gotta know a little hacking . . . not too much, just enough to get across school databases. Well, maybe that's his one skill beyond darkness, but that'd be it. He's intelligent, not smart, but clever, an d quite stealthy as well. Great lurker, seriously. Contrary to popular belief, Jaden is not going to be the next leader of a evil Duel Destruction organization - society - whatchamacallit thing. He's probably isn't very capable of it either, he's not that smart, and he'll probably go for all out one - hit K.O. thing, and it might not end very well . . . Dueling really trains your mind, and he will mop the floor with his opponent using power, but there is absolutely no way he's gonna do that without skill, and strategy. Jaden thinks his duels, and depending of the opponent, he'll either play around with them for a while, manipulate them by using "weak" cards and staying on defensive, but Jaden is the full out attack type. He'll destroy his opponents, but that doesn't mean he'll go all out, or even put effort into a duel, just enough to "pulverize them with sheer power", which, not surprisingly, isn't too difficult when only your cards and your mind have kept you alive.

Jaden will get what he wants . Period. He's stubborn, and he'll do anything to get his way, and he's really not open to everyone else's "pathetic" ideas. Like everyone else, he does have dreams and goals, but what's different is two things, one, he believes dreams are totally useless if you aren't strong enough to fulfill them, its better to stop dreaming already. The second is that do anything to fulfill it attitude. He's not going to stop using anybody for power, he'll betray anyone to get results, and he'll go places. This can be seen as the "never - give - in - and - never - give - up" attitude, and its partially right: Jaden will never give up, ever. But that's kinda not good for his mental health, and its sometimes going to contradict the part that says hes intelligent, ambition people can do stupid things sometimes, and Jaden, being human, cannot help but do illogical, hypocritical things sometimes, despite his own hatred to hypocrites. Jaden's ambitious alright, and its obvious to everyone around them, although that's not exactly the word they would use, something more along the lines of "insane power obsessed maniac" might be their description, but Jaden has his feet firmly on the ground . . . for now. Growing up the way he did, his father was none other than The King. He grew up in his shadow, and all he really wants, deep down is to get into the light. But that's not what he tells himself, he wants to be the best, and the best he will be, he has to be, or he'll forever be an outcast, and he'll basically be living a death. His goal is all that matters to him, that burning ambition is what drives him to do what he does, to make every move, its all one step up to the throne, that he'll guarantee he sits on sometime in the near future . . . Jaden's steadfast, and definitely not going to stray from this path . . . the King's throne is something far more powerful than any type of other bait, and that stubbornness, that mental state, does come quite handy, after all, its always hard to convince a madman (not that he is one, mind you) to stray from his ideals. Jadens ambition tells him many things, its not really like schizophrenia, with the voices in his head, but its something like intuition, that tells him to move on, get over anything, get back up, and keep going, and once he gets there, do anything to stay up there. The view at the top is absolutely intoxicating, a King's view of his kingdom . . .

Everyone has a dark side. And believe it or not, so does Jaden. You probably think what's above is the darkest side of Jaden, but that's actually the average Jaden. We'll call this side "Yami" Jaden, and no, he does not have another self posessing him. But Jaden is a Psychic Duelist, a rare, but hated member of society. He can objectify the damage he causes, which results in people hating him, even though its not his fault, and he can't control that power. Sometimes, when he duels, his true power is activated, and cannot be contained at one point, and he begins to release all that bottled up anger and hatred. He becomes quite violent. And this type of 'violence' does not mean beating up some losers, but it is full out destroying chaos. This time, he's not going to merely destroy an opponent by utterly crushing them with his power, he is going to kill them. Or, if they're lucky, they'll be spending time in the hospital. Jaden doesn't show it usually, but he hates people as a general rule. Another reason he really wants to be King is the unwavering acceptance, and ignorance to what you are. When Jaden is King, nobody cares about someone who was branded a monster, and a freak, and a weapon of mass destruction, when you become King, you are the King, and nothing else matters. But before that time, Jaden knows he'll have to deal with enjoying the pain of others. And it does help him, its payback for what they do to him, for all the pain they've caused him. Its really something that's developed, people in general have made him cold, heartless, unforgiving, and he really has to thank them some day for doing so, it made him stronger, but its still pain nonetheless, and he'll enjoy inflicting pain upon them as well.

Normally, the usual Jaden would let little things go, they aren't worth his time or trouble but Yami Jaden is different. Every little minor mishap, he'll hunt down the offender and make sure they pay, and very dearly, enough so that they'll never do it again. Also, Yami Jaden can go on rampages across Neo Domino, if only to vent some anger. He's destructive that way, by summoning his monsters, and issuing an attack, many lives are in jeopardy. He's hardly got any control of his power at this point, and doesn't even care really. This revenge part of him is usually not one specific person but on the population of Neo Domino in general. Despite all of this, Jaden never gets arrested by Security, because he's too protected by his father and mother who have a great deal of influence in Neo Domino. As well as his parents' friends, whom also hold respectable positions. At this point, Jaden is nothing short of crazy, insane, and a total hater. The only way to really stop him, at this point, is to defeat him in a duel, but since no one wants to lose any limbs, the people who stop him, are either, himself, when he's satisfied with the destruction he's caused, and his father and sister, his father, being a great duelist and having possibly more control over Red Demon's Dragon than him, and Jadis, because her own psychic powers can provide some protection. He's extremely violent as well, and won't hesitate to personally beat up some people (unfortunately, he can use firearms), and not with just his cards as well, and while all of this is going on, Jaden's laughing, its all so amusing, and satisfying to him.

Like everyone else, Jaden is human. As hard as it may be to believe sometimes. He has feelings too, even though he tries to kill them, it doesn't always work out well. He doesn't have any friends, and he can't talk to his parents, because of his goal to become King, he won't ever show any sign of weakness in front for them, weak is the one thing he'll make sure he's never called. And if he suddenly breaks down and rants about how his life sucks and stuff, he'll surely never become King. He believes if he can't handle pressure, standards, and expectation, he doesn't deserve the position. So he acts all calm, cool, and collected, and frets over his ego a lot, but he really is just lonely, and sometimes, things like those high expectations do get to him. And in order to prevent himself from turning into Yami Jaden, he has to find some way to deal with it, so he talks to himself. No, its not himself, but people see it as that a lot. He talks to one thing he can truly trust, his cards, and they listen to them, and he can see them as well, they're his only friends, but they don't really exist in this world, as much as Jaden would wish they did. Yes, he wishes for things too, big shocker.

Jaden knows how to work a crowd, seriously, he has burning ambition every time he talks, and it makes "foolish little people" (as he calls them) agree with him, despite his obvious not - so - great attitude. When it comes down to it, Jaden can be very polite, he knows his manners front and back, he just chooses not the use them most of the times. He actually has manners only because he thinks its necessary sometimes when dealing with certain influential types of people, but when that time comes, he knows how to use them, and how to talk. He's quiet for the most part, and even though he does like to declare how he is king, he doesn't randomly go stand on the roof of the school and yell "Hey Everyone! I am the King!", no that's not Jaden, but he can use his words to get people to his side, and if that doesn't work, his money. But that isn't usually necessary, Jaden has a somewhat charm about him that can get him followers when he needs it, in fact, its something most upper - class people with a certain degree of intelligence can do, its that regal air about the high and wealthy. It's something that can't be explained, but not everyone who's rich is there because of inheritance, they work at it, and Jaden does put effort in keeping his rank clean.
