I've been a member of Gaia (on various accounts) since 2003. And I must admit that this is one of the WORST websites I've ever been on. The users are for the most part immature and offensive, and the staff only care about sucking money out of you for badly made collectibles and other item. They currently have this huge office joke going on where they're pretending to be creating a great MMORPG for this site, and they've been using that as an excuse to slack off and ignore the wants and needs of the paying user. If you're smart, you'll never join this site.

Says the guy who just can't seem to stay away. For this place being so shitty and worthless, you spent an awful lot of time comming back time and time again.

In other words folks, this place is so awsome even people who claim to hate it can't leave.

Very true.

To be honest, Gaia is a site I just find myself coming back to again and again, I don't think I'll ever be able to quit.

Gaia's like, the heroin of the internet, addictive, makes you smile, (Some users have weird Gaia-Related Dreams), and various side effects, limited but not exclusive to, "Lack of Sleep", "Dehydration", "Carpal Tunnel's Syndrome", "Increased Body Odor", "Sensitivity to Light", and the dreaded "Starts saying 'LOL' in Real Life".

All in all, it's one of the best websites I've ever been on, and that's saying a lot. I've seen my fair share of webforums, and I've got to say, Gaia is one of, if not THE best forum-site I've ever been on.

The staff, They really pay attention to the users wants and needs, we wanted unisexed items, we're GETTING unisexed items.
We wanted a battle system, They make zOMG.
We wanted more events, They gave us more events.

We complain about certain faults the site may have, and god damnit, they do their BEST to fix em'.

Thank you for the laughs, Gaia.

I've been on Gaia for going on four years now. T.T I can no longer access my original account since I don't remember the email account I used or the password.. but Its UndergroundAngel if you wanna check and make sure i'm not lying xD haha. Anyways I love this place. Its my RP home. I don't think i'll ever be able to leave~.

After losing four years worth of inventory, I still came back to Gaia.

Cash shop was a great, greedy touch. I like all the items you put out in it seeing as they're better than anything you've put out in regular shops and even most of the donation items. Won't deny spending my money there.

But the item crapification is really ruining the only thing that keeps me and my boyfriend coming back. We like the avatar system blahblah, and you've done a great job in slowing it down about ten fold. Keep up the good work.

I love my Andy.
Feel free to quote me.

I've been a member on Gaia since 2004. Four years now as a loyal member, now that being said i can't say I agree with everything you "higher-ups" do to the site and the decisions you make.
But I still love Gaia on a whole. The forums are fun, I love meeting new people here, dressing up my avatar is a blast, there are so many items to choose from.
And the NPC story-lines are the best! I've yet to see a site with something better! MORE UPDATES NOW, PLEASE? <3333
I like how you guys try to keep this a "young-adult" site and sometimes cater to the older folk on here also (notice how I don't count myself as an "older folk". I'm only 19! lol ). But the day this site turns into Neopets, I'm out of here. Sorry.

And honestly, Gaia is the most original avatar dress-up sites out there.
So here's to another four (and hopefully many more) years to you, Gaia! Keep up the good work!

PS - The new layout kind of sucks, it's bland, plain, boring, and way too cramped. YOU GUYS NEED MORE COLOR IN YOUR LIFE.

I've been on Gaia for aprox. five years. I've made a lot of good friends here. I use this site for, predominantly, poetry. I love it here, but I really wish that there was some way to filter out the people who aren't serious about writing from the writing forums.

Permission to quote granted. :]
Just, don't omit anything, or change my words.

Prospective users, I have been on Gaia since October 15, 2003. Gaia was once an anime role-playing community with beautiful art and colors. Now, it has become a social networking site, much like Facebook or MySpace. I do not agree with these changes, but if you don't mind the monotony, feel free to register. However, do not expect Gaia to listen to any feedback that you have, unless it is mindless support, like in this thread. :]

I'm flying up so high, my purple majesty displaying;
I've reached a higher place that no one else can make a claim in.

Sorry, can't keep it to six sentences...but quote me crazy, it's all good:

Hey Gaia...been a Gaian since November 2006...not super long, but long enough to see major changes done to the site.

I wanted to say, I love you...really, I do...Gaia continues to be the one site I actually log onto, day in and day out, throughout the day at various times, work, home, whatever...I cruise, chat, play games, and spend money...God, do I spend money, more than I should maybe...but being with you has made me love you more. I love the items, the ways you work to constantly raise the bar for the quality and creativity of your items (i.e. Active items, EIs, etc.).

You listen to all of your users, through praise or downright reprimand filled with hate, you take it all with a grain a salt. And then you try your best to fix stuff, you change if the demand is great enough, and you're constantly trying to evolve, innovate and adapt to the times and wants of your users...not change, for the sake of change, but what you feel will take you through the next wave of Gaians, what will make us happy. And I love it.

To this day, there have been many sites before you, and many, many more popping up daily trying to be like you...but NO ONE does it like you...no one has such a complex avatar system with just the right look. While inherently anime-esque, it stil appeals to such a wide range of people, you never cease to amaze me.

You have some of the most talented designers and artists in the industry, and they work hard...most listen to the users and really try to deliver what we want, while still maintaining the integrity of their style. When will you run out of ideas? Some say you have and the quality and creativity is degrading...screw that, I say you're just getting started.

The admins, mods and other staff...you work tirelessly and communicate what you can. Can you improve on what you put out? Sure, are you doing your best and putting in as much as your users put into the site..hell no, you put in more...you started with a small group of you making this site in your spare time as a passion project...and now, you're one of the top teen hangouts with more than 6 million unique users a month...as an online marketer, that's damned impressive.

At any rate, I love you...I look forward to the MMO and every other trick and feature you have up your sleeve. I will log on daily, and I will 'donate' monthly...you are my private Idaho.

TL;DR: Gaia, you blow my fuckin' hair back and I love ya'...don't ever change, your a** will always be beautiful to me.

Gaia is the mob; an insatiable, unyielding beast that lives off the sorrow and mismoves of the admins and its own community.

I actually haven't been here a year yet but it's getting close. The funny part is I've seen so much happen in only being here for a fairly small amount of time. I've become friends with a small bunch of people; the list is growing slowly, yet steadily. Gaia has been a great past-time this summer, especially the marketplace. The risk of it combined with the bid wars makes it my favorite place on Gaia. When I first showed my friend Gaia he though it was kinda meh... 10 minuets later he said it was one of the best sites out there. It only took me 5 minuets to draw that conclusion wink

I think that might be one sentence too long. Sorry about that. Feel free to use it though.

[-There's something to be said about an online game that is as easy to use and interactive as Gaia is, and that something is that it's AWESOME. I've been off and on Gaia for a while, and yet I always seem to come back. You meet fun people, and buy cool stuff and just generally...have fun!
It's life in pixels, you have to work hard in order to play hard, only not. If you're willing to walk around in n00b clothes, you can just make friends and chat as much as you want. There really aren't that many limits to what you can do!-]

[-Everything stated in my previous claim is true and quotable, however I must add my agreement to this post. I have found that it is VERY VERY and for good measure VERY hard to get something done on Gaia. Mostly I think it's because the people behind the cubicles are busy, but also because they're swamped with simply ridiculous amounts of requests for things they really can't make happen.

Though it would be nice if they could fix the new avatar arena. It's being annoying and the images are all pixelated and ugly.

Yup.-]

Gaia is probaly the best site out there. Joining in 2003 I have kept up with almost every feature released but still the avatars are the best feature to me, questing and storing for any of the 1000s of items makes your avatar unique and fun to use. With such a wide variety of forums you can discuss anything, especially since there are soo many users so the forum stay active and entertaining. What I like is how the admins are sociable with the community and listen to what the users want. Although some features released I don't like they give us many things to do on this site. Im glad gaia keeps us updated on the Zomg game and I cant wait for that to be released and the many other features to be released in the future biggrin

I joined a bit back in 2005. Kept the same account.
I love gaia, for it is the place where I talk to many of my internet friends. Of other forums, this feels the coziest. The avi system is very well done, and feels pretty compared to other sites. The appearance of the gaian storyline is something that is a keystone for gaia, and though I've seen other (forum) sites with stories, I have enjoyed gaia's the most.

I went on here and towards the beginning loved being able to work for gold and buy MC's with it through staying active on the forums. I found it rather discouraging now since the inflation has jumped up so drastically.

I was very disappointed in gaia's use of "Cash" brought on by new business management. I did not mind the concept of MC's, just because the idea behind them was giving back to those who gave, but the idea of making it a business and producing very high worth items only cash obtainable (or by marketplace) makes me feel like I am playing a game like runescape, with the population polarized. If I don't use cash I am a freeloader, under this new system.

All In all I'll most likely stick around, but I'll keep complaining about what bugs me here all the while until it is fixed.

You can do much less about the past than you can the future. Remember this.

Freedom is a curse for you to always bear, and is the only thing that can judge you truly.

You must decide whether or not to act. For there is no middle ground.
