This explains it pretty well. It's pretty much a matter of taking a bunch of objects, organizing them, then drawing them. Ultimately practice is the key to improving. I find that nothing works better than just sitting down and drawing over and over and over again. Eventually you will make better observations about what you're drawing, how you're drawing, and so on. I hate driving at night too...I see halos from any and all lights. Time for me to go--it's late, but there's still lots to do! ^_^ Y'all take care! (and hiya Mint! ^_^) *mumbles to self* I really gotta get the CG done...I'm way late since it's your Halloween avatar. rofl |

Silver Death Okami Kyu I need to learn to draw faces and heads. emo I can do other things... yet I can't do a human... isn't that sad? Yay I was hugged ^ ^. Atraente: I used to be really bad about exceeding the limits of the paper too. I think I just eventually got used to drawing within certain constraints. ^_^' Sometimes it takes a few tries tho. xd |

I like a medium tooth 67lb. paper, but that's not terribly hard to find.
The one I use is an A5 size, so it's small enough to cram into my work bag. It also has a hard plastic cover/back, so it doesn't get frayed like most sketchbooks with cardboard fronts/backs. (since my sketchbook also has several pages of air traffic control notes, I need to have it readily available in case I can't remember something--so it gets ripped from my bag several times a day) xd You should look at a blank piece of paper the way I do--it's only ruined if it's left blank. ^_^ *hugs Kyu* |

I should start drinking like Unbi. ^_^ I seem to get my best artistic motivations while drunk. (i.e. My Little Tachikoma) I just don't drink as much as I'd like to since I can't drink 12 hours before work--so that nixes most of the week.
I'm starting to near the end of my sketchbook. Looks like I'll have to go out shopping for another one soon...but I am a stubborn old fart who likes a certain type of sketchbook that's only sold by one store in town. sweatdrop |

Awww MK....there's no need to change your avatar into a girl to try and increase your appeal. ^_^ I like drawing guys just fine, but there's just more girls in the thread--and me trying to find that happy medium of art for the new folks and older regulars. sweatdrop

Simply Indescribable Snap should open a shop ninja invisible-weirdo I look better without glasses, but I need some sort of vision correction device I can't see >.> Also I get the same issue as Simply. I want laser eye surgery, but I have to wait a few more years until then... I used to be 20/400 and got PRK a few years ago. PRK is like LASIK, except that PRK entails removing the cornea where LASIK cuts a flap in it. The healing process takes longer, but the docs can be more accurate and it's more stable in the long term. Unfortunately, I was 20/15 for a few years--then recently my body went through one of those shifts and my eyes went to 20/40. I wear glasses or contacts for work, but I don't mind one bit since I can still make my way around my house and stuff. ^_^ I'll probably wait a few years to make sure my vision is stable again, then I'll get an "enhancement" to get my eyes back up to par. (under the program I bought with LasikPlus, I can get zapped for free if my vision drops below 20/20) ...I could have gotten the surgery done when I was in the military for free, but I value my eyesight (for both art and air traffic control) and went through a civilian doctor and paid out of pocket for the improved service/experience of a non-military doctor. (especially since at that point I was coming to the realization that the inexperience/laziness of the military docs had pretty much trashed my legs permanently) emo |
