I liked this banner a lot also, it reminds me of the game NiGHTS on Dreamcast for some reason. Very nice banner.

First Place for Guild Banner

I picked this banner for the Shattered Realms guild banner because it really stood out to me. The text is easy to read with good contrast, but what I liked the most is the background design. It reminded me the most of how I pictured the broken landscape of Shattered Realms, and so I thought it the best fit for the guild banner. Congratulations elks4elb, job well done!

I decided to make a second place ranking for this contest, even though I didn't say there would be one. I just felt that there we so many good entries that I had to at least reward second best as well! Congratulations Don Carlo Gambino, I picked yours because I like the style of the font and colors used and the "broken" look to it. Great job!

First of all, what is this contest for? I need a banner made for my guild, Shattered Realms. This contest will pretty much be a free-form art contest. Meaning you (as the artist) get to use your artistic license and pretty much just let your imagination run wild. You may use any information found in Shattered Realms as a reference for your art, in fact I encourage you to!

There are actually 2 contests here.
First of all, a banner is needed to conform to the size requirements of the guild banners (200x40). Secondly, I'm also looking for a signature banner for the guild, the main purpose of which is to help advertise the guild, so please keep this in mind when submitting for the signature banner. Size of signature banner should be determined by your best judgment, but please don't make it excessively big, use common sense.

The only requirement (apart from size) is that you include the words "Shattered Realms" somewhere in the image. Other text is allowed, as long as it is relevant to the guild.

*UPDATE* New requirement: Please use tinypic.com to upload your entries before submitting to me, I'm having issues with photobucket and other similar sites, but tinypic.com works for me. Thank you!

TO ENTER please PM me, and your name will be added to the "contestants" section. Consider yourself "entered" as soon as you hit 'send' on that PM (since I probably won't reply right away). No contestant will be refused.


Contest Rules

1. Follow Gaia ToS.
2. All original work only, please!
3. Be respectful, please.
4. Submissions are handled in PM.
5. Artwork must be submitted before the deadline to be considered.
(I may be flexible on this last rule, if it's within reason.)

More rules may be added if necessary.


The Prizes!

Each winner will have their choice of 1 of the following:
Dec '06 Letter
Feb '07 Letter
Mar '07 Letter
Apr '07 Letter
May '07 Letter

In the case that 2 different contestants each win one of the contests, a coin will be flipped to see who gets first choice. If 1 contestant wins both competitions, they get 2 letters!


F.A.Q.

Q: How are we judged?
A: Since the images are for my own personal benefit, I will personally be judging all entries. I do not play favorites, rest assured.

Q: Can I submit more than one entry?
A: Of course! Just remember that I'm looking for quality not quantity.

Q: Can I submit an entry for both contests?
A: Please do!

Q: Animation?
A: Animated banner entries are allowed, just keep in mind that if not done well it could hurt your chances of winning against a well-done static image.

Q: Can I get paid in gold instead?
A: Yes. You can opt out of receiving the sealed letter in favor of gold.

A little over a month to go on the contest!
I've already got a lot of great submissions. Thanks to everyone who's participating so far. If you haven't joined yet, now is the time! Don't wait til the last minute to start working on a banner.

Now that the May letters have unsealed, I decided to add 1 May letter as an option for the winner(s) of the contests. Hurray!
I have a lot of great submissions so far, it's going to be hard to decide! There's still a couple weeks left for the contest though, so if anyone has new entries please get them submitted soon!

Hopefully all the contestants are as excited as I am, the contest turned out even better than I could have hoped! So far I have 19 spectacular banners to review tomorrow (it's going to be a tough decision)! Get those last-minute entries in!
