I've been trying for forever to somehow stick a bunch of gears together from my grandpa's old sewing machine. D;
But metal doesn't stick to metal with glue.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I tend to love things that take from old-fashioned/Victorian fashions but like those aspects better. Like lolita fashion- I'd rather have something that looked like authentic Victorian children's clothes than a frilly dress and tiny hat XD. I'd also like something in Steampunk that's more Vic gentleman's clothing, but with a few industrial/cyberpunk touches like gear jewelry and goggles.
