Hoodies are always in, but not all hoodies, and not for all occasions/ages. They are a casual piece of clothing, and once you become an adult, they are appropriate basically when it would also be appropriate to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Also, I really hate the one's that are HUGE. If you're in your house, fine, but they're not flattering.

don't buy one that's just downright ugly.
when was ugly ever in?
think about how it looks on you.
does it compliment your shape?
or does it add extra weight with all that bagginess?

I don't think they could ever be out. It would just depend on the style and what you wear it with.

They're a staple to me. On one hand they're not flashy, gaudy or overdressed, and on the other, they don't make you look homeless (unless, of course, it's all ripped/dirty and the rest of your outfit looks like that).

They don't make much of a fashion statement though, unless they're really unique, so I try to stay away from the bland ones.

But I hate the bejeweled, gold-encrusted Affliction hoodies. They're the one exception to the gaudy thing.

I think its just a part of American fashion wear now (like jeans) we just wear them alot because a jacket with a hood is a good idea.
