Everything you need to know can be found within the first few posts of this thread.

I'd like to apply as a moderator, however I noticed that many people are rejected for not reporting posts often enough. I believe I would be one of those people because I hardly report posts because it seemed nothing was done. If I do start, however, how long should I wait until applying to have a proven record that I have began reporting?

Are there any other common reasons people are declined that are easily avoided?

Also, if you've put a thread in the wrong spot on accident recently by complete and total mistake, would you be declined for a moderator position or is that so minor that it doesn't matter?

Thanks for your help.

I'm curious; how long does it take for one's application to be processed?

I filled one out earlier this month (or was it last month?), and I haven;t gotten an answer back yet.

Or does it take long, when they're looking through a user's post/report history?

This question is covered in #19 from the front page's FAQ.

I ran across an error message that is rather disturbing when opening the application for being a mod. It says: Sorry, you may not apply to be a moderator because your account is currently banned!

..If my account is banned, how did this happen? And also.. how am I allowed on this account?

o_0 you know... that's a very good question. I would PM an online moderator to see if they can offer further assistance/an explanation...

This error is constantly being asked about in the thread, and we constantly keep having to inform users to go back and read the FAQ since the explanation is there confused Check out the FAQ again.

This is common with IE users. I suggest you download firefox, it seems to work when applying to be a moderator.

That's how I did it.

excuse me i have read the faq and followed the steps but everytime i get on the first step it keeps reloading to that same 1st step can someone please help

I know this isn't a question or anything...but I found a spelling error on the front page. I don't know if anything can be done about it now or not, but I thought I should point it out.

Patience is an important quality with moderating, so think of it as a great way to practise being patient.

Should be *practice*

Technically both would be correct. Practise is a verb while practice is a verb & noun.
However practise is only a verb and never the noun (as in it's always a doctor's practice, not doctor's practise).

"great way to practise being patient" is therefore correct (as would "great way to practice being patient" wink .

http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/practice.html

It's a UK vs US thing, where in the UK practice is the noun and practise is the verb while in the US practise is the verb and practice can be either. So I chose the one that was accurate for everyone hence using practise and not practice.
