click My Gaia and then you can see your news feed, whos online, and your buddies' status. and you can change your own ^_^

You can change your status on the My Gaia page. On the left hand side of the page, in the "Status" section, you'll see your status speech bubble. It will say "edit" in tiny blue print on the bottom left of the bubble. Click on that.
