Like I said, you read it the way you wanted too, not the way it was meant to be read.

I still have major problems with what you're saying.

That spitting on a soldier is basically spitting on yourself?

Quote:
This suggests to me that both you and Michael Reagan hear "war protesters" and you automatically think "Phelps family".

Suggestions are the mother of all F*** ups.

Quote:
Then he says that war protesters should be shot and you say "I see where he's coming from"....

Considering my military background, I can see where he is coming from. He's wrong to think the way that he does, but it's an emotional reaction he's having.

Quote:
How about "people shouldn't be lined up and shot for practicing an inalienable right"? Is that so hard to say?

No it isn't. I would've written it as well had I known people take things out of context.

Quote:
The Phelps stand as an outrageous exception, so perhaps they're unrelated to the discussion. However, who else could you possibly be talking about when you "see where [he's] coming from" when he says "war protesters should be shot"?

I see protesters, from the ones that spit in the face of the soldier to the ones that picket the funeral. I'm not comparing the two, just explaining the spectrum of the war protester that I can "see where he's coming from." Again, it doesn't make it right he said what he did, but I can still see why he feels the way he does.

Again, where is that apology?

So then you'd say that protesters other than the Phelps family shouldn't be lined up and shot then?
You disagree with Michael Reagan's assertion?

btw, you still haven't said "people shouldn't be lined up and shot for practicing an inalienable right"?

Personally I'd be a bit amused if some of em got shot when they jumped at public figures, ala the Code Pink person and Condi. But then when people do stupid things and get nailed for it there is a certain amusement value in it. (Of course Code Pink is kind of nutty to begin with. Even as far as protests group go.)

The protesters that practice peaceful assembly? Not a thing wrong with them. However if said protesters turn violent / destructive they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Indeed, it is the peaceful protesters that I'm standing up for right now. If it's true what Michael Reagan said, then I'm completely outraged and I hope that he truly considers what he said if there should ever be a protest that he supports... 'cause he would be an outright hypocrite for not doing so.

Which has stopped any politician / political commentator / public figure in general since when? wink

As for Reagen the only quote I could find was:

Quote:
There is a group that's sending letters to our troops in Iraq ... claiming 9/11 was an inside job -- oh, yeah, yeah -- and that they should rethink why they're fighting. Who -- we ought to -- excuse me, folks, I'm going to say this: We ought to find the people who are doing this, take them out and shoot them.

Really. Just find the people who are sending those letters to our troops to demoralize our troops and do what they are doing, you take them out, they are traitors to our country, and shoot them. You have a problem with that, deal with it. But anyone who would do that doesn't deserve to live. You shoot them. You call them traitors -- that's what they are -- and you shoot them dead. I'll pay for the bullet.

That the one you were referring to Pockybot?

Holy s**t...
You know, I was expecting from Pocky that it would have been something taken out of context or misinterpreted... but that's pretty damn clear.
Yeah, it's messed up that the people are sending those kinds of letters.... but the guy advocates shooting them???
Ok yeah, Michael Reagan is a madman.

Thought I've already made that clear that I disagree with his remarks, yet still know where he's coming from as to why he's saying it.

Why is it so difficult for you to make an apology? Getting annoyed that you'd beat around the bush, avoid it, and still attempt to make personal-snipe attacks against my character in the process. Cut the crap.

IMO, the Dems are already in trouble, seeing as they control the House (and I think the Senate) and Congress' approval rating has dropped to 9%.

If this keeps up, I may have to go have a talk with my employees, and by employees, I mean Congress (Congress works for the people, and I'm an American Citizen, so therefore, they work for me as well as everyone else). A good tongue lashing's what they need right now IMO.

They own an extremely slight majority, so blaming the 9% approval rating strictly on the democrats is to be dishonest.

Well lets not forget that the Republicans have their own trouble. The religious right as threatened to withdraw its support for Republicans if they do not back their social agenda.

It also seems no one in the Republican party are exactly thrilled by McCain as their candidate. There seems to be a considerable lack of mobalization on behalf of the Republicans.

So niether party it seems are as United as they try to portray themselves. I am curious as to what a defeat would spell for either party.
