I'm going to audition for Batboy:The Musical in about a month.
To audition, we need to sing one minute from a comtemporary musical, with a piano accompannment (i.e.: no singing acapella or with a CD).

I'm not sure what I am, seeing that I was shunted off to the 'alto' section in Choir because we needed more people there, but I can't go very high or low.

All help is greatly appreciated! heart

Since you don't know what your range is, do you have any songs that you feel comfortable singing? These would not necessarily be good songs to audition with but it might help give us a better idea of your voice part.

Hmmm...
The Wizard and I from Wicked (although I'm completely sure I don't sound as good as I think I do.), Heal the World (Michael Jackson, once again as the first), World Behind my Wall (Tokio Hotel), Yellow Submarine, Aly & AJ (on occasion), Younha (Houki Boshi in particular).

Take a look at "There Won't Be Trumpets" from Anyone Can Whistle.

Edit: How contemporary is contemporary? The last ten years? thirty?

Thank you, but ah, that sounds really hard! I don’t think I can do that.
The exact period wasn’t specified, merely that it was ‘contemporary’.

That one is too hard? All right, uhm.

What about "I Know the Truth" from Aida? Or "Woman" from Pirate Queen?

Someone tell the story,
Someone sing the song.
Every now and then the country
Goes a little wrong.

Every now and then a madman's
Bound to come along.
Doesn't stop the story-
Story's pretty strong.

Doesn't change the song.
Pirate Queen sounds wonderful!
Thank you so much for all your help!
