Depending on what it is, it actually might make people more willing to hire you. Unless you're acting as a nerd, or something like that. Then you'll probably need to get the tattoo somewhere you can hide it.

Tattoos are definitely something to be careful about if you're a performer. I mean, you're not going to be cast as an honor roll student if you have tattoos visible. Honestly, they're just hard to work around.
However, they can be covered with make-up, but it's a special kind of cover-up. Regular make-up usually won't do the trick.

Get something small in a relatively easy to hide place, and you should be fine.

Pretty much what everyone here has already said. Just chose what you get carefully, the size, and where you want it to go. Some tattoos are easily hidden with clothing while others are not. One guy in my theatre group has a tattoo roughly the size of my hand on his chest and I didn't know that until he was changing in the make-up room while another guy has three ummm....."indecent" ladies on his arm, but his characters always have sleeves.

Same thing with piercings. But remember, even you take out the piercing, you still have a hole there.

hell yes. The acting world is harsh. Something as simple as cutting your hair can jeopardize your chances. DON'T DO IT MAN!!!!!! Just don't.

I don't think that is necessarily true. I mean, of course don't mess with your hair CONSTANTLY but as long as it's not outrageous as to what you do with it like extreme coloring or mo-hawking it, you will probably be fine, at least in my opinion. I mean, the next audition I have is 3 or 4 months from now so I feel comfortable dying my hair and when that time comes around. I will say that I feel comfortable dying it back.

And I think think it's better to see that they care about your acting, not the way you look!

Depends where you get it. If it can't be covered up easily with clothing, it's probably not a good idea. Other things that can jeopardize your acting (appearance wise) are unnatural hair colors, piercings, and wearing inappropriate clothing to an audition.
