The time for summer theatre is nigh! Many programs/companies are holding auditions this month or next month to assure casting for the summer. So.. inquiring minds want to know...

What summer shows are you auditioning for/have you been cast in? Have you had to make any tough decisions about what to do?

Goodness knows there's a LOT of summer theatre, especially if you're in a theatre-heavy area. I've had two auditions in the last two weeks, one coming up on Saturday, and one coming up in March. I'm auditioning/have auditioned for:

~ Twelfth Night
~ Oklahoma!
~ A Midsummer Night's Dream
~ Much Ado About Nothing
~ Two Gentlemen of Verona
~ Knight of the Burning Pestle
~ Romeo & Juliet

I found out the other day that I was cast in the chorus of Oklahoma!, so that's one done. The others I won't find out about for a while yet.

One more thing.. does everyone find it easier to get a paid job in the summer? I know one of the companies I'm auditioning for usually doesn't pay its actors.. but for some reason (maybe summer theatre is just that popular) they pay their summer Shakes folks.

I look forward to some responses in here! xd

I don't do a lot at once, but I am planning on doing some things this summer. I'm auditioning for this local production of . . . well, I don't know what the play is yet but it'll probably be announced some time in April. I've been doing plays with this program for three years, so I'm practically guaranteed a role, as long as I'm not too old. I'm also going to do at least one show at Camp Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts, maybe two, some people even managed to do three there.

I'm working my regular job this summer - need the money for school. I might audition for something local, but in my area, those auditions will be later.

Yeah.. I'm around San Francisco, so it's pretty theatre-heavy. A lot of companies have their auditions early to nab actors while they can. whee

Believe me, I feel your need. 3nodding

It's always nice to have something guaranteed. 3nodding

Where is Camp Ballibay?
