Orchestra Instrumental Pet Peeves

When someone points to your cello and asks " can I play your violin?"
When you have to lug you AND your friends cello up some narrow a** stairs
Playing your cello old school style (without the tail spike) and you have to use your thighs to hold it up.

It may be a struggle to play without the tailpike, but its funny to watch someone figure out how to hold it up without. : ) good laughs

When the other people around you start speeding up while you're TRYING to stick to the conductor's tempo. What's the point in having a conductor if you don't watch him??!! scream

Since I go to a small private school, we don't have a full blown out Orchestra so the clarinets have to play the violin ques. And I absolutely hate it when the whole section doesn't know where we're at or if people are rude and talking while the director is on the podium and he's telling us how to do something that is important so we can sound better and we can't hear him. I also have to agree with people asking if they can see your instrument, someone asked if they could see my clarinet and they broke the thumb rest on it! UGH!!! That was the most miserable month in my whole Orchestra career.

Please u really dont wanna get me started! when people ask to play your instrument and they grab the bow hair. Come on people! scream scream . And how bout when the conductor blames everything on the first chair when something goes wrong! (Helloooooooooo! That kinda hurts.)

When your string gets out of tune and it takes about an hour to get it back in tune. Oh and when you put it up in the schools storage closet and some random kid walks up and messes everything up and doesn't even have the common sense to come and tell somebody! it really upsets me.

And when you first start to learn a song and when u put your bow on the strings to get that first note. All u hear is a sssssssssccccccccccccrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! and everybody stares at u like you're crazy! talk2hand
