I'm getting a new electric bass guitar soon and I was thinking of getting the Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short Scale Bass. Any more suggestions? Thnx biggrin

Alot of Ibanez's I hear are good, just don't get an Epiphone. But to really be of help 1) How much money are you spending. 2) What are you playing.

I've played maybe 10 Ibanez's and the only one i liked was like +1K.
I've played a ESP/LTD B-50 (though not the best ESP/LTD bass) it's a good started. The only problem i've encountered is that it's very quiet. But any other B series is fine, as far as i could tell. And i am currently waiting on an F-105. I've played the F-104 (it's sister/brother 4 string bass) and it had a pretty impressive sound to it. Um, i've played a few really good Fenders/Squierers that weren't to bad. The only problem there is the price. But the pick-ups give a really awesome sound i like... i just wish the basses didn't look so boring. (no offence to any Fender lover) And I've also played A Nikki Sixx Signature. It's pretty good considering the low price and the fact that it's a signature. The catch? One volume knob. D= |

Wiring another volume/tone pot isn't a tough job at all really.

If it's a short scale then try the Gretsch Junior Jet bass guitar. Amazing little thing if you ask me. Besides, if you'd like you could get it modded in the future by adding a pickup and a few extra knobs, just find a guitar tech in your area.
Anywho, it's as curvy as a woman (sexy thing) and plays damn good. Its got a good neck length considering what you're going after. Use it for any style you'd like. Simple and still manages to sound (and look) gorgeous at the end of the night. Who the hell cares if it only has one pickup, its a minihumbucker so its definitly not letting you down. I tried it out (play mostly alt. rock and screamo), and I really liked how it sounded. Priced at around $250, not too much for a good quality instrument (investment) like this. Check it out, you might find a new love... |
