The Jimi Hendrix Thread "'Scuse Me, While I kiss the sky"http://www.ananova.com/images/web/46693.jpg ![]() James Marshall Hendrix "Widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix pioneered the explosive possibilities of the electric guitar. Hendrix's innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Because he was unable to read or write music, it is nothing short of remarkable that Jimi Hendrix's meteoric rise in the music took place in just four short years. His musical language continues to influence a host of modern musicians, from George Clinton to Miles Davis, and Steve Vai to Jonny Lang. From demo recordings to finished masters, Jimi Hendrix generated an amazing collection of songs over the course of his short career. The music of Jimi Hendrix embraced the influences of blues, ballads, rock, R&B, and jazz a collection of styles that continue to make Hendrix one of the most popular figures in the history of rock music. " - www.jimi-hendrix.com This is the place to talk about everything Jimi Hendrix! ![]() In Association with The Jimi Hendrix Forum... Announcing... ![]() to ![]() Here's what it is: Since the most of what's been going on in this thread is basically Jimi fans seeing there's a thread, pop in and say "Best Guitarist Ever", and leave without any conversation really developing, I've decided to put together a mini "guide": I'll have posts for roughly 20-25 songs, with the posts containing 1-3 songs that I feel are Jimi's greatest, and then some I just like. In doing this, I hope it'll start some interesting thoughts and conversation. It'll be up very shortly, so enjoy! ![]() Hendrix Discography http://music.iupui.edu/albright/AYE.gif ![]() ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? - album Reprise Records 6261. Released: Wednesday, August 23, 1967. Of course, there are those mischevious, annoying, jimi-hating jerks who like to vote on the wrong poll option on polls. The "Coca-Cola" Option came in second place, with 20 percent. the other two options, "He would have continued to play, but not the same as his original stuff", and "He would have gone way downhill" came in 18 and 19% percent, respectively. Some Rules... 1. This is a place for poeple who are serious about music. Don't just say "Yeah Jimi Hendrix Rocks" and leave the thread forever. 2. NO "FLAMING" - You don't like Jimi? Too bad, please don't come in. 3. No stuff like "Jimi is god" or "He's so hot!" or stuff like that. NO BUMPS and don't use emoticons to an extreme, just for the sake of being "cute". 4. Don't get off topic, and make sure you're talking about Hendrix, and maybe some other influences of that era. 5. Most importantly: Have fun and be inspired!
