I know I've never read Justine, but it sounds familiar. Is that one of Edgar Allan Poe's pieces?

The Marquis de Sade.

It's actually rather... I don't know. I feel really sorry for her. *Hopes she can find Juliette next.*

I knew I knew it from somewhere!! I've wanted to read that for some time, but haven't been able to get around to finding it.

I'm reading it online. I found it linked from Wikipedia's page on the book.

*Randomly decided to look up de Sade.*

@Nimmy: That's... a bit disturbing. This is the Marquis de Sade we're talking about. The guy sadisim is named after.

Then again, I tend to stay away from that kind of stuff anyway. Carry on.

Lol. I suppose I won't discuss my opinions on sadism and sadomasochism here. Wouldn't want to upset anyone's sensibilities in any manner. Besides, this isn't the thread to do it in. I've wanted to read it though because it's like looking at a person from inside their own mind. I've always thought he had an interesting back story. I have it coming to my library on friday, but thank you for the link Nimmy. Im also getting in Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. That one seems interesting.

Life is short, So am I.
I can finally introduce myself under my proper name. Faelairiel Fellynndar, or more commonly Fae. A pleasure to be welcomed to the thread!! blaugh

Alright, Lothyfluff, I forgive you for being you since you can't seem to help it. *glomps and huggles*

*gives Elrond Peredhel a book* It's in Jiddish, but I'm sure you'll understand it right away.

edit: Hullo Miss Fae! I'm only on for a second, but I think I can at least feign hospitality. 3nodding

Nice to meet you, Fae.

I've read the boring part of '120 days of sodom' and 'philosophy in the boudoir'. I couldn't find the interesting part of '120 days of sodom' anywhere, maybe I'll find it online. Sade was an old pervert with the mind of your average Hentai producer: no respect for women, straight people, or anyone with morals. His theories on philosophy were not very convincing, among other things he believed women pass no hereditary traits to their children.

I've read reviews of Justine and Juliette by Angela Carter and I have to say, I'd hate to be either of them.

I was Juliette.

Well, that's the whole reason I'm reading it. O.o

I eventually want to read The Story of O, and the Gor books.
