So...I've noticed some upset over the fact that there is little talk of actual Indie/Obscure films....here are a few of my favs...let me know what you think. Feel free to talk about one in particular or make a list of your own:

A few of my recent favorites are:
Secretary**
Henry Poole is Here
Teeth
Birds of America
The Wackness
Pizza
Let the Right One In**
He Was a Quiet Man

And one of my top favs....????

Kinky Boots

Not sure exactly how indie/obscure you want to call it, but one of my absolute favorites is A Scanner Darkly. I loved the premise of that movie, and how it was animated.

it fits here at the moment, mainly because animated live action films arent normally done in that way its normally animated or live action people not animated charcters that are real actors just animated

Let the Right Ones In was wonderful. I was a little skeptical at first but it turned out to be great.

On a side note: the second poster listed Kinky Boots as a fav film. I'm watching it right now.

The Man Who Laughs - old black and white film that I found amazing. The dog was named 'Homo'. Awesome.

[ sort of lesser known - or lesser appreciated ] Everything is Illuminated

The Wall

don't you know the singing salves the troubled soul?
Un Chien Andalou is probably my fav indie film (if it even is one). Created by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel(sp?)

I love surreal films

It was okay. A bit familiar though. I mean, how many versions of The Full Monty can they make?

Is Adaptation independent?

Is Adaptation independent?

Nope. That's fairly mainstream-good movie though. 3nodding

Let The Right One In...was that the foreign child vampire movie? I think it was...German? Or maybe Swedish? If so I really wanted to see it but couldn't find any one to go with me/pay for my ticket so I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD. It looked really good!

Here are some of my all time favorite indie/obscure films...

28 Days Later

Waltz With Bashir

Taking Woodstock

The Point

Cold Souls[/i

I know 28 Days Later became Hollywood mainstream-but it was originally a British indie zombie flick. Isn't it amazing what they did on an independent budget? They must have had to get up so early to get those empty city shots. whee

Hmmm...Well, then...Margaret's Museum. It's Canadian and I don't think 'foreign' movies automatically count as indie. However, it's pretty obscure (even though Helena Bonham Carter is in it) if that's what we're judging by.

"It also occurred to him that throughout history man has told only two stories: that of a lost ship searching the Mediterranean for a beloved isle, and that of a god who allows himself to be crucified in Golgotha."

A Life Less Ordinary biggrin my favorite

Waitress is really good,
Kinky Boots -loved that one

Some films that might be under this category are also labeled 'foreign' if they were simply not
filmed/produced in the US.
