i just was Paranormal Activity last night, i gotta say i was scared. i didn't scream but i was pretty jumpy. i loved that it was not a big visual effect movie with well now actors. it took me a some time to get past the fake home movie setting, but the point of the movie was to put the audience i a everyday, thins can be any one setting. And after they put the idea of fear in your mind, the way the build on it was kinda fun.....

i also think that my experiences of the movie was enhanced by my extra jumpy friends...one of which dug her nails into my leg...

i really wanna know what everyone else thought.

WHY MICAH

WHY DIDN'T YOU BREAK UP WITH KATIE IN THE FIRST PLACE?
.
-spoiler-YOU'D STILL BE ALIVE./spoiler

Micah was the kind of person that grows on you.
I saw it tonight, a few hours ago, and I'm still sad that -spoiler- Katie killed Micah/spoiler.

omg i know. he was a nice guy

Amg, I watched that. I slept with my mom that night. xD
Also, my mom reallyyy didn't like Micah. She thought he was pretty stupid. xD

I LOVED Paranormal Activity and I was definitely freaked out by it. I'm not one to get scared by movies, I can sit through scar movies alone and be fine, and I can watch most anything and make fun of it. Hell, I've had REAL experiences with the paranormal and wasn't scared.

This movie does SUCH an amazing job and building the suspense and the tension that it gets to you before you even know what is happening. I don't want to give away any spoilers for those that have not seen it, but I think the whole way the movie was presented and letting the audience essentially scare itself was classic, pure genius, and is an art that Hollywood lost a long time ago when blood, guts, and gore became the definition of a horror film.

BTW has anyone seen the original ending? Which did you like better. Steven Spielberg's ending (the one shown in theaters) or the original?

Honestly, I think I prefer Steven Spielberg's. I think the original ending takes too much of the edge off and doesn't provide that one, final, intense, scare. After building and building and building all that tension and horror, the audience needs a huge release, and I found that the original ending was a let down and didn't . . . complete my scare. It's still a good ending, but, like I said, it doesn't give us that big bang finale that I think helped to make this movie truly great.

OMG I completely agree with you! Gore has nothing to do with a good scare. i mean i love blood and gore in a good old fashioned Quentin Tarantino shoot out, but i don't get scared ...

i thought it was one of the most boring movies i've ever seen, it was all hype and didn't deliver.

it's just long spans of nothing happening, and then something really lame happens. it didn't make me jump, it didn't scare me, it just made me wonder how they even managed to spend 16,000 on something like that.

well they obviously didn't spend that much on it...so yeah...

still the movie was pure s**t. there aren't many movies that have bored me that much, but it's up there with marathon (which is a black and white indie movie about a woman doing crossword puzzles all day)

and sure big budget doesn't always equal good (the original night of the living dead is a great movie, and was very low budget) but paranormal activity wasn't scary, the actors sucked, the story (what little there was) sucked, the scares were barely there and so scattered it wasn't worth it. there was nothing in that movie that can't be seen in a more interesting format while watching a tv show like ghost hunters.

it wasn't classic, it wasn't genius, it didn't re-define anything, it was something any idiot with a little money could put together.

Well, then get a camera and some friends and see if YOU can generate 1/2 the praise this movie has. smile
