Random is the only "nerdcore" artist i listen to, but I haven't really explored the genre.

But just for your information, african-americans don't only rap about what you hear on the radio.
I can pull out a ton of black people who rap about positive things, as well as a ton of white people who rap about the same very things you insinuate that only black people do.

This is more about mainstream vs. indie (underground). Besides, like somebody else stated, It isn't just black people that is idolizing the new "gangster rap" that has been going on for years and years, look at the statistics, more white people are fan of that type of rap that any race.
Mainly because African-Americans are only 17% AT BEST of the US population.

That...and not only Nerdcore speaks about things that doesn't have to do with thugs, guns, and whores.
