My advice.
Play Sims 2.

Sims 3 is glitchy, buggy and won't run on most computers (without lag or freezing) unless it's a power house.

If you can get your computer to run it, I'd wait until they release expansions mainly since expansions are hidden patches to fix the crap they messed up and didn't bother to fix.
