Sticky: Wanna Create a Video Tutorial For Our Help Center?

Hi everyone,

As we work on improving our new Help Center, we're looking for cool videos that will teach others how to use specific parts of the site. We'll occasionally post a list of videos we're looking for here - anyone who creates one that is cool enough to get used will get a reward (which we'll also outline for each video. Please understand that we have to be picky about which videos we show because this is an important area, so it has to be fun, informative, and helpful to other new Gaians!

Here are a few guidelines for creating your video:

-They shouldn't be more than 2 minutes.
-Please put "Created by <your user ID>" in the end credits so we know who created the video.
-We obviously can’t accept anything that contains copyrighted music (pay attention to this one because we get a lot of this), inappropriate content, or otherwise violates our Terms of Service (so be conscious of what others are doing in the background in your shots).
-It should be helpful for the viewer so they actually learn about the topic, but also entertaining.
-If you want to take a shot at creating one, let us know at [e-mail]. This way we can keep an eye out for it when you're done, and also lets us know about how many to expect - that way we don't make our final decision too early if more are going to come in.

Once your video is created, put it up on Youtube and send the link to us at [e-mail]. If we end up using your video, you can send it to us as an .avi file.

Mandatory legal statement: If your video gets submitted and then chosen, you agree to give us full rights to using your video on Gaia, solely to promote Gaia.

The first two videos we're looking for listed below.

Remember! These are going to be viewed by members who have very little idea of what Gaia is about. Think back to when you were new, and what you needed to know in order to use the site well. The more step-by-step, clear instructions you can give, the better - don't assume they already know how to do certain things! We're mainly looking for demonstrations, preferably with text to go along with any voiceover you include. For example, if you're showing people that they can kick trees for Gold, don't just tell them that they can do it. Show them "Here's exactly how to kick trees for gold" with step-by-step instructions.

And with that, here is what we're currently looking for:

New!! How to find your real-life friends. This should explain to members how they can potentially find people they know on the site, both during registration, and elsewhere on the site. Any tips and tricks you have can be included as well. Just remember - the more detail, the better!

Ways to earn Gold on the site. This should show newbies the various ways they can earn Gold on the site, and needs to include posting on forums, voting in polls, playing games, and any other ways you can think of that would help a new member (that don't violate our Terms of Service, of course!).

An Introduction to zOMG! Remember that this is for a brand-new member, and should explain what zOMG! is, how to get started, and show some of the cool stuff they can do once they get into it.

If you create a video that we end up using for either of these two topics, you'll earn yourself 2000 Gaia Cash!
